Meet Beauty Katera

We recently connected with Beauty Katera and have shared our conversation below.

Beauty, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity comes from my past . Often in elementary I was bullied for my size . At home I was taught that everyone is there own person and are beautiful in there own way. Being kind was always the environment I grew up in. My family was the ones who faithfully fed the homeless , helped many out etc . My environment despite the struggles of school taught me that being kind gives the heart joy . I fell inlove with the peace of genuine acts of kindness including words of affirmation that comes from the heart and anything that displays love to others.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a professional roller skater! I am considered what the rink world would call a “ Covid skater “ . I started skating in 2020 when Covid hit . Being within the rink space I notice so many talented people that amazed me. I use to skate when I was younger , but never knew there were so many tricks and moves other than spinning . I also do choreography dancing so I was easily progressing within skating . I fell inlove with the music and never stopped since then . Skating gives me a peace I never thought I could experience .

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The knowledge that I’ve learned the most is always focus on yourself and your own pathway. Many , including me often compare their self to other skaters which puts a pause and completely stops them from achieve a skate journey. Everyone have their pathway of learning . The best way to improve is to keep going and know that your special in your own way !

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Overcoming anxiety . Anxiety is my worse enemy . I often am always overthinking and creating an wave an anxiety . Over the past year I’ve learned coping mechanisms like breathing exercises or locking in the music and most importantly praying . These 3 have helped me the most grow up within myself because my mind feels at ease not stressing about things that are least of my worries. God sends nothing in confusion or fear !
