Meet Crystal DeVone

We were lucky to catch up with Crystal DeVone recently and have shared our conversation below.

Crystal, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I developed my confidence and self-esteem through a mix of lived experience, personal growth, and leaning into my creative gifts. Being a DJ and event curator for over 20 years taught me how to command a room, read energy, and stay grounded—even in high-pressure environments. Every performance pushed me to show up fully, even when I wasn’t feeling 100% confident inside.

But confidence didn’t come overnight. It was built through moments of doubt, failure, and learning to pivot. Producing podcasts, planning events, and working in front of crowds gave me a front-row seat to my own evolution. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, embrace my voice, and take up space unapologetically.

Therapy, journaling, and being surrounded by a strong tribe of women—as the youngest of four girls, and through sisterhoods like Alpha Kappa Alpha—also helped me tap into my worth on a deeper level. I’ve learned that confidence isn’t about being loud or perfect—it’s about being aligned, prepared, and unafraid to grow.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Absolutely! Here’s a dynamic and authentic response tailored to your multifaceted creative brand:

I’m C. DeVone—DJ, podcast producer, and Event curator. At my core, I’m a storyteller who uses music, conversation, and immersive experiences to bring people together. Whether I’m behind the turntables at a major event, producing an honest conversation on one of my podcasts, or curating a vibe through food and wine, my mission is to create connection, joy, and space for real, transformative moments. Rose’ Season by C. DeVone is scheduled for June 13-15, 2025 a three day weekend of events in Atlanta, GA.

What excites me most about what I do is the power of energy. Music sets the tone, conversation opens minds, and shared experiences can shift people’s lives. I don’t just play songs or produce shows—I craft feelings. That’s the magic.

Right now, I’m expanding my brand in some exciting directions. I recently launched **”But, Is There Wine?!”**—a social content and event series blending R\&B, wine, and real connection. I’m also developing new podcast concepts, including *Morning Thoughts with C. DeVone* and *Engaged Never Married*, both centered around honest dialogue, empowerment, and cultural reflection.

As a creative Black woman and proud Howard University grad, everything I do is rooted in community, excellence, and authenticity. Whether it’s a curated event, a DJ set, or a podcast episode—I want people to feel seen, heard, and inspired.

Follow the journey—there’s more music, more moments, and more magic on the way.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been **resilience, creativity, and emotional intelligence**.

**Resilience** was key—especially in industries like entertainment and media, where rejection and redirection are part of the process. I learned to see setbacks as lessons and fuel, not as reasons to stop. If you’re early in your journey, don’t fear failure. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable and know that consistency will carry you when motivation fades.

**Creativity** was my superpower. Whether I was DJing, producing a podcast, or planning an event, I approached everything like a blank canvas. I recommend tapping into your creative instincts and not being afraid to experiment or pivot. Stay curious, consume diverse content, and keep building your toolkit—your unique voice is your greatest asset.

**Emotional intelligence**—knowing how to read a room, manage energy, and connect with people—has helped me succeed in every setting. For anyone starting out, learn how to listen, lead with empathy, and handle tough conversations. It will set you apart, no matter your field.

My advice? **Trust your path, invest in your growth, and don’t rush the process.** Keep showing up, keep learning, and always protect your peace while pursuing your purpose.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes, I’m always open to partnering and collaborating—especially with folks who are passionate about creating vibe-driven, soulful experiences. I’m looking to connect with brands, creatives, fellow DJs, content creators, culinary experts, and platforms that align with music, storytelling, culture, food, wine, and wellness.

Whether it’s a brand activation, podcast partnership, wine or food-focused event, curated dining experience, or content collab, I’m all about blending energy, creativity, and community. If you’re someone who leads with intention, values authenticity, and wants to create spaces where people can connect over great music, meaningful conversations, and good food and wine—I’d love to hear from you.

Let’s build something memorable together.
