Meet Sharyn Anderson-Campbell

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sharyn Anderson-Campbell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Sharyn , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I found my purpose through the pain I endured as a survivor of child physical and sexual abuse and the healing that I embraced. As a result of the abuse, my spirit was broken, and this led to feelings of depression for which I saw no way of escape. The physical and emotional pain that I suffered had impacted my walk with the Lord and my spirituality thereof. I sought the Lord Jesus Christ, with whom I have had a personal relationship since age eleven. As I pursued the Lord, I realized that we live in a fallen world, and many are separated from God due to sin. I continued to put my trust in the Lord as He guided me through the healing process, which included anger, sadness, and shame. Feelings of being betrayed were also problematic. These emotions are described in my book The Cry No One Heard: Listen for the Cry. Once I was comforted, healed, delivered, and set free, my purpose was evident. I am equipped to minister to and comfort others in need.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a minister, therapist, and published author. The genre is religion and spirituality. I work with clients who have substance use and or mental health disorders. I also provide Christian counseling as requested. I am experienced in working with survivors of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, including childhood traumas and domestic violence. I have also worked with special populations such as veterans. I am working on a couple of books, encompassing The Violence Stops Here and Sisters of Grace. I also have a monthly newsletter, and readers may subscribe via http://eepurl.com/i77JQU. I welcome opportunities to speak on the above topics and inspire others. Also, one of my goals is to start group sessions that entail going through my newest release, Mindfulness Journaling in Jesus: 21 Days the Kingdom Way. My other endeavors include reading Back to School with Jesus and Tag You’re It to children in a library, church, or other settings. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that have been most significant on my journey include my walk of faith, a determination to renew my mind with the Word of God and think differently despite life’s adversities, and the spiritual insight I possess. There is a battle, and it starts in the mind. If you have suffered any trauma that has negatively impacted your thinking or hinders daily functioning, I encourage you to seek help. It is okay to acknowledge you are not well when it comes to mental health, as you would if it were a physical concern.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The Bible has been instrumental in renewing my mind, embracing hope, and standing on the promises of God. My favorite passages include Romans 12:2, the King James Version, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Also, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13, New King James Version), and “For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them” (Isaiah 61:7-8, KJV).
