We were lucky to catch up with Jazmyn Lacey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmyn , so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
I take What the haters say & use it as fuel to my fire ! & once I light that stove it’s on baby ! In my Nola voice , Nothing or no one can’t stop jazzy when she’s in her ultimate cooking mode to serve her people!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m from New Orleans, 6th ward Treme made & 7th ward raised ! I have a passion for cooking! My grandma’s Thelma Lacey & Patrica Hall taught me how to cook in the kitchen, My grandmother Thelma taught me southern cuisine & My grandma Patrica hall taught me how to make the best creole & Cajun dishes from the root of New Orleans cuisine. I watched them every chance I got growing up especially into my woman hood , These same dishes I was taught to make is the same dishes I feed my people with all over the city of New Orleans, straight out the home of my kitchen, I prepare a menu the day before send it out all over social media to each and everyone I can they become interested in what they see & preorder from there. I’m favored because I show love on my plates especially if your a mother because I’m a mother of two , & I know that once a child smell good food they will want some too so I put enough on the plate for their child too. No one will be left hungry as long as I’m feeding. My heart is big & i love to give & make people happy !
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The skill I learned is to stay consistent as much as I can , push harder even when things aren’t looking right you still fight for what you love to do , because if it’s something you love it will come easy for you & your profit will flow abundantly.
Patience, you have to be patient ! Prayer you have to keep god first talk to him & let him know you’re greatful in the midst of his giving & blessings .
Staying humble , believing that with faith it all can be possible as long as it’s aligned with gods plans !
Staying strong , asking god for strength through the process! Trusting that everything will fall in place with his timing !
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My partner Joce king ! Battle rapper of New Orleans father of my kids! He pushes me like no other helps deliver the food on time . He’s there for me through it all . Idk if I could have cooked all this time with out him being by my side to deliver while I take order after Order, . He’s my rock! He’s so solid .
