We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mogley Oney. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mogley below.
Mogley , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
It’s been developing since early on in my 20’s, from 2018 is when I started to attend the open mic scene here in the valley and started to gain confidence by showing up and showing out! Being able to connect with other performers and having the opportunity to make something special happen is the best! It really helps you develop a lot of music theory!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As said before, I went from attending open mics to hosting them! Setting a stage for local artists and performers to showcase their art and creativity is such a rush and warming feeling. Supporting the downtown music and arts scene has always been a deep passion of mine, it feels like a passing of torch from previous curators to the next! And thinking what can I do differently that no one hasn’t. How can I engage and entertain for hours on end without giving too much thought! This all comes to play in to my personal work ethics and my own music! So it’s a coin flip, you never know what will be received but you always make the most of the occasion and take advantage of the opportunity at hand!
Being an indigenous artist, I am very proud and grateful to be Diné (Navajo) and Inuit and to be the first generation to be born in the city. I hope I am making my family and my native indigenous nation proud. My music comes within, and my family will always be the reason for my success aswell as my peers.
Speaking of music haha! I wanted to take this time to promote my newest EP “Better Late Than Never”
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Communication, charisma and intensity. Moving with intensity and how you project that professionally and wholesomely, you have an idea, and are the producer/director to make that idea come to life. How you communicate with others will set the standard on how precise and respective the outcome will be.
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
Travel the globe and connect with locals and sharing experiences. Spending the rest of my days learning about others cultures and history while sharing my own! Is a gift that keeps on giving!
