We recently connected with Tee Seabrone and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tee, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Oh definitely my mom. I grew up watching her handle everything life threw at her and never quitting. No matter how tired she was she always showed up and made sure things got handled. That stuck with me. I think a lot of how I approach writing and deadlines and even just life in general comes from watching her lead. She raised 7 of us. My sisters and 2 of my cousins and stayed dedicated. She’s literally the blueprint.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I write psychological thrillers that dig into secrets, identity, and the messiness of human relationships. I’m also a co-founder and designer behind Tian Zevon, an international handbag brand that blends bold design with everyday functionality. What excites me most is creating work, whether it’s a story or a bag, that makes people feel something. My newest novel Body Count is dropping this summer, and it’s definitely one for readers who love twists, tension, and morally gray characters. Between books and bags, I stay busy building things that speak to who I am and the people I want to reach.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful things on my journey have been persistence, creativity, and learning how to navigate social media for marketing. Persistence kept me going when things felt slow or uncertain. It’s easy to start but staying consistent is where the growth happens. Creativity is the heartbeat of everything I do, whether I’m writing a novel or designing a bag. And understanding social media has been huge for getting my work in front of the right audience. For anyone just starting out, my advice is to keep showing up even when it’s hard. Sharpen your creative voice by staying curious and open. And take time to learn the tools that can help get your work seen.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My husband has definitely been the most helpful in helping me grow and push through challenges. He’s supported me in ways big and small, whether it’s encouraging me to keep going when I feel stuck or helping me think through ideas and decisions. He’s patient and always reminds me of what I’m capable of. Having someone in your corner who believes in you and also holds you accountable makes a huge difference.
