Meet Ellen Komaromi

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ellen Komaromi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ellen, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

In retrospect, I would say that the journey to discovering my purpose began with my own healing journey. When I was in my early 20s, I embarked on an inner quest of understanding myself, my experiences, and my conditioning. It’s been an ongoing process of removing the protective mechanisms I have had in place and getting really honest with myself and those around me. I have explored modalities like yoga, meditation, EMDR, breath work, and somatic therapy for my own healing.
Currently, I am finding my purpose day by day through following what feels most interesting and exciting to me.
This has led me down the path of the healing arts after starting my career in nursing over 10 years ago. I continue to ask the questions: What contributes to a vital and healthy life? How can one find meaning and fulfillment in life and does that correlate to our well-being? What part does the psyche play in our experiences both physically and spiritually?
I have found that when I am able to almost hold up a mirror for another person to see themselves more clearly and notice the beauty that is inside of them, I feel the most fulfilled and purposeful. In a way, I have found my purpose by leading others down the path I have walked myself. So much of the human experience is shaped by how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. All of my curiosity about the psyche, our physical health, and the human experience led me to tools like Germanische Geilkunde or German New Medicine, somatic practices, and psychedelic therapy. Each of these offer a unique perspective and a depth of awareness that many people have never felt before. It supports the expression of what is true and authentic to each person’s experience so that they can start to integrate them into their life and find more wholeness within.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am excited to be growing The German New Medicine Collective, which I cofounded with my friend Sarah Hawley. This is a space for those who are new to and curious about German New Medicine (GNM) and would love to deepen their understanding. The German New Medicine Collective is a member space that includes a community of practitioners who work with GNM and enthusiasts who want to learn more. GNM is a body of knowledge created by Dr. Hamer that traces the biological root of chronic disease back to the psyche. People can come into the space, ask questions, learn from our monthly calls, and interact with practitioners. We are creating courses for those who enjoy learning in that way and I host an ongoing podcast available to the public to share this information and stories of people who are working with it. It has been powerful to see firsthand how impactful GNM is not only to resolve chronic symptoms, but create lasting resolution. I have always been so curious to get to the root cause of illness, and this tool does this so beautifully.
Additionally, I am working with an incredible team of nurses at Heart & Soul Nursing here in Colorado. Heart & Soul is a holistic private nursing business that aims to bridge the gap for the aging population, bringing holistic nursing care into the home. My dear friend Kearstyn Fox founded H&S after a long career in bedside nursing and saw so many gaps in healthcare for both nurses and patients. This high-touch model allows clients to experience peace of mind, knowing a dedicated nurse advocate is managing all aspects of care—from medication to meal prep, companionship to case management. I’m excited to be working with Kearstyn to support both nurses and clients with high-quality care and education.
Finally, I am enjoying creating a small homestead in the mountains of Colorado. I live on a beautiful 2-acre property with my partner, our sweet dog Lux, and four chickens. I have always felt so connected to nature and living off the land was a part of my childhood. I have big dreams of homestead life in community, so this is just the beginning. My partner and I both enjoy the musical arts, singing, and playing multiple instruments.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I would say that the first quality that was most impactful for me was to hold faith in the Divine order of life beyond what I could see in every circumstance. A life of fulfillment and meaning for me stems from cultivating a deep faith and belief in what is possible. My mom modeled this for me growing up, holding faith for her dreams. Looking back, I can see how these dreams materialized in her life after years of dedication and faith.
Another skill that I have cultivated in my life is to keep moving forward, despite unexpected setbacks or perceived failures. I have learned that there is no such thing as “failure,” only lessons learned. When I am able to learn from every experience, I can embody this wisdom and keep going. I know deep down that each and every experience I have had in my life has benefited me in some way, even if the lesson was uncomfortable and confronting.
Finally, the quality that I think has been most impactful on my journey is cultivating radical honesty in all areas of my life – honesty with myself, with God, and with those around me. When we are able to move from a place of defense and protection to a place of vulnerability and authenticity, we provide an invitation for others to do the same. With this honesty, we naturally draw love, support, and community to us because it draws people in. Some of the greatest artists and leaders are those who speak the truth of their hearts – I can imagine no better way to live life.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

I think one of the most impactful things my parents did for me was allowing me and my siblings to grow up with lots of space, connection to nature, and stability. No parents are perfect and it is a lifelong journey to unpack the dynamics we experience with our primary caregivers. And I feel a profound sense of gratitude that I could grow up immersed in nature, surrounded by animals, plants, bugs, and the natural order of things. Both of my parents valued a quiet, simple life in rural Missouri. They taught me so many life skills of which I treasure. The environment in which I was raised offered me so many valuable lessons about resilience, critical thinking, the satisfaction that comes from working with my hands, and a profound respect for the natural world.
