Meet Simbi Okelowo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Simbi Okelowo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Simbi below.

Simbi, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I come from a lineage of bold, powerful, and confident women. From an early age, I was raised to know God and to understand who He created me to be. Encouragement was never in short supply during my childhood. I vividly remember my mother singing to me about how beautiful I was—even when I was as young as five.

As an outspoken child, my curiosity was never stifled. I asked a lot of questions, and my parents never shied away from answering or guiding me toward the answers. Even my grandmother played a role in affirming me and nurturing my voice.

Looking back, I realize that my confidence was formed in those early years—shaped by love, faith, and intentional parenting. The values instilled in me were so strong that even challenges like having a speech impediment never held me back. I’ve always persisted. I never let stuttering stop me from applying for leadership roles—whether in school, governance, or the workplace. In fact, I’ve come to enjoy the challenge. My confidence is deeply rooted in knowing who I am and whose I am.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur with a deep passion for helping people build lives—and businesses—they’re proud of. My journey started in corporate, working at startups and later at Google, but I eventually transitioned into full-time entrepreneurship where I now operate at the intersection of marketing, media, and motherhood.

Today, I run Sim Inspired Films, a media company that helps brands and families tell meaningful stories through video. I also work as a marketing strategist and consultant, helping founders and service providers grow through powerful content, clear funnels, and scalable marketing systems. I recently launched “The Growth Blueprint,” a strategy offer designed to help small business owners clarify their brand message and convert attention into revenue.

What excites me most is seeing people bring their God-given ideas to life—especially women and mothers who are balancing so much and still choosing to bet on themselves. Whether it’s through a video project, a marketing strategy session, or content that resonates deeply, I love helping people show up with confidence and consistency.

My personal brand is also growing, and I recently launched a weekly newsletter called The Builder’s Memo, where I share practical strategies and behind-the-scenes lessons from building multiple businesses while raising a family. It’s all about equipping people with the tools and mindset to grow with clarity and intention.

Big picture, I believe in building from a place of purpose. I want everything I create to inspire others to believe that it’s possible to live a life that reflects their values and vision.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are confidence, faith, and self-discipline.

Confidence and faith were instilled in me from a young age, and they’ve shaped the way I navigate every room I step into. I’ve learned that hard skills can always be gained but if you don’t work on your mindset and sense of identity, you might not be ready when the right opportunity shows up. So my advice to anyone early in their journey is: do the inner work. Build a strong foundation of belief in yourself and in what God is calling you to do. That’s what will carry you when things get hard.

The third quality is self-discipline especially when it comes to entrepreneurship. When you leave corporate, you quickly realize that no one’s coming to check your progress or hand you a roadmap. You have to create your own structure and hold yourself accountable every single day. That’s a major shift from side hustling or part-time work. Full-time entrepreneurship demands a different level of clarity, organization, and self-leadership.

Also, know this: there’s no such thing as the “perfect time” to take the leap. The perfect time is when you decide to go for it. And honestly, the sooner you do, the sooner you’ll start figuring things out. Because clarity comes from action, not overthinking.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

I love working with service-based business owners, coaches, and creative entrepreneurs who are ready for growth but know they need outside expertise to make it happen. My ideal client is someone who understands their own strengths but also recognizes that marketing and video production aren’t their zones of genius. They’re not looking for fluff. They want strategy that converts and storytelling that connects.

Through my consulting offers and my media company, Sim Inspired Films, I help clients clarify their message, optimize their funnels, and create content that drives real results.

If that’s you (or someone you know) I’d love to connect.

We’re also growing our creative network at Sim Inspired Films. We’re currently looking to collaborate with experienced videographers and photographers based in Atlanta. For project inquiries or collaboration opportunities, reach out at info@siminspiredfilms.com.
