Meet Brittany Reynolds

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittany Reynolds a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from watching my mom and dad. Growing up, I saw them go to work every single day—no sick days, no excuses. They showed up even when it wasn’t easy, and they often picked up extra shifts to make sure our family had what we needed. Their commitment, consistency, and sense of responsibility taught me the value of hard work and dedication. That example stuck with me, and it’s something I carry into everything I do.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the owner of FotoLab Studio in Houston, TX—a self-portrait photography studio where creativity and individuality come to life. What makes FotoLab special is that we offer private, professional photography sessions where guests can take their own photos using a wireless clicker. It’s a fun, empowering experience that allows people to express themselves freely, whether they’re capturing personal milestones, creating content, or just enjoying the moment with friends.

One of the most exciting things happening right now is our recent expansion! We now have a traditional photobooth located inside the food court at POST Houston. It’s a great way for visitors to take home a unique memory from their time at one of Houston’s most iconic destinations.

Whether you’re looking for a creative space to shoot, celebrate a special occasion, or just have fun, FotoLab Studio is here to offer a one-of-a-kind photo experience.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Understanding the Importance of Capital
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of having more than enough capital. Starting and running a business comes with unexpected costs, and being financially prepared can be the difference between staying afloat and having to close your doors. For those just starting out, I recommend building a cushion—plan for more than what you think you’ll need and revisit your budget often.

2. Planning for the Unexpected
No matter how much you prepare, surprises will come. Whether it’s a last-minute cancellation, a technical issue, or a sudden change in direction, staying flexible and planning for the “what ifs” has helped me stay grounded. Don’t view setbacks as failures—see them as opportunities to adapt and grow.

3. Asking for Help and Enjoying the Process
One of the most powerful things you can do is reach out. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, consult with experts, or lean on people who’ve walked a similar path. Their insight can save you time, money, and stress. And through it all, make sure you’re enjoying the process. Don’t let the pressure of growing or the fear of the unknown steal the joy of what you’ve already accomplished.

My advice: stay humble, stay hungry, and remember why you started.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was lead by example. They taught me that hard work is valued and it pays off—not just financially, but in the sense of pride, discipline, and integrity. I watched them show up every day and give 100%. That mindset shaped how I approach everything in life.

They also showed me the power of relationships and community. From an early age, I learned that networking is everything—doors often open because of the connections you build and the way you treat people. They taught me to value every interaction and to always carry myself with kindness and professionalism.

Most importantly, they instilled in me the belief to always put God first. That foundation has guided me through tough decisions, helped me stay grounded, and reminded me that there’s a purpose greater than myself behind all of this.
