Meet Nate Jones

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nate Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Nate , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I find it in writing new music. When we write it’s like everything flows so unerringly. I have always found purpose in writing, it’s the first thing I gravitated towards when I started playing music.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Well I started playing guitar at around 13 years old. Always had music in my life my father played, as well including a handful of other family members. I can look back in my life and even being around the age of four and five I distinctly remember watching my father play through his JCM 900 marshal that I play with live now. I even owned albums of the foo fighters, Hendrix, and STP after his passing. I didn’t join a band until I was twenty one. It’s my first band and a hell if a time.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Consistent practice on your OWN TIME. Practicing is very important and when you learn how to do it right things become soother. I play around 2 to three hours a day with rehearsals lasting around 4 to five hours. Being kind and professional to every walk of life. And being on time and prepared. These things are very important to me.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My band mates. When I didn’t believe in myself they believed in me and I love them so much for that.
