Meet Christopher Rubio

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christopher Rubio. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christopher below.

Christopher, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I was raised by my mother in a middle to lower class home but I still never felt as though I couldn’t do anything I put my mind to. If I simply had the desire to do something, I said I was going to do it, and started the process. Then, once I started, it was just a given that I would accomplish my goal. I NEVER even thought there was a different outcome than success. I am a firm believer in toeing the line between confidence and cockiness (my wife says I toe it way too closely). I feel that a person should be so confident in what they are doing it can easily be perceived as cockiness. This is until the person(s) that are accusing me of being cocky really dig in and realize that, wait, he is not cocky at all, just super confident.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am originally from the Los Angeles area and currently live in Northern Idaho. I was raised by a single mother, played football at UCLA, was a middle school teacher for eight years. 20 years ago, I started Rubio Long Snapping and it quickly became the top Long Snapping company in the world. Currently, I have trained over 1,900 Long Snappers that have gone to college and the NFL. I run camps throughout the country year round, have private lessons in my area and also dabble with a live podcast called The Rubio Method.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Confidence, Intelligence and ability to ask questions (realizing that you do NOT know it all).

NEVER stop asking questions and realize that it is simply ok to not know the answer AT THE START. Also, it is also VERY ok to not care what others think, especially if it does not impact you at all. I am an expert on this one (this also drives my wife crazy).

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

Easy, traveling with my family and friends. Let’s assume that a magic wand made it possible for me to retire right now and I would travel well with my family and friends. Great scenery, food and conversation. What more could you ask for in your last decade?
