Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eli Berchan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eli, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
From faith, thinking of my end goal,
My wife and kids; all what I’ve gone through and still here , so it means I am doing right and can’t give up
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My journey began with a deep appreciation for the power of beautiful experiences—how a well-designed setting, a perfectly timed moment, or a thoughtful detail can create a memory that stays with someone forever. Professionally, I’ve dedicated myself to crafting those kinds of memories through Eli Berchan Wedding & Events Creation.
At its core, my work revolves around creating bespoke weddings and curated events that reflect the soul of each couple or client I work with. From intimate gatherings in the Swiss Alps to grand celebrations across Europe and the Middle East, we focus on personalization, elegance, and emotional depth. What excites me most is the opportunity to translate love stories and personal visions into unforgettable, living experiences—no two events are ever the same.
What makes our brand truly special is the deep connection we build with our clients. This isn’t just about logistics or aesthetics; it’s about trust, intuition, and understanding. We become co-creators in some of the most meaningful chapters of people’s lives.
Recently, we’ve expanded our services to include a line of culinary offerings under SUMAC®, a catering and private chef experience that brings the warmth and richness of Mediterranean home cooking to events and special occasions. SUMAC® is where food becomes storytelling—earthy, refined, and deeply personal.
We’re also focusing on destination weddings with a fresh lens: not just travel, but immersive, cultural experiences rooted in beauty and authenticity. Whether it’s a mountaintop ceremony in Switzerland or a sunset dinner on the Lebanese coast, we’re pushing the boundaries of what a wedding can be.
Ultimately, whether it’s through floral design, live entertainment, location scouting, or menu curation, our mission is simple: create moments that move people—because when it’s real, it’s unforgettable.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities have shaped my journey more than anything else: emotional intelligence, adaptability, and a deep understanding of cultural nuance.
1. Emotional Intelligence
In the world of weddings and events, you’re not just managing timelines and vendors—you’re managing emotions. High-stakes moments come with tension, vulnerability, and immense joy. Being able to read the room, sense unspoken concerns, and respond with empathy has helped me build lasting relationships with clients and navigate even the most unpredictable situations with grace.
Advice: Learn to listen—really listen. Spend time understanding people’s needs beyond what they’re saying out loud. Emotional intelligence isn’t just a “soft skill,” it’s the backbone of trust and leadership.
2. Adaptability
No two events are ever the same. From last-minute weather changes to sudden logistical challenges, you have to stay nimble and grounded. The ability to pivot without losing your vision is everything in this field.
Advice: Early in your journey, don’t aim for perfection—aim for presence. Learn how to troubleshoot, improvise, and stay calm under pressure. That’s what earns you the respect of both your team and your clients.
3. Cultural Awareness & Sensitivity
Working across regions like Switzerland, Lebanon, the UAE, and the U.S. has taught me that beauty, celebration, and tradition look different in every culture. Knowing how to honor that, while still leaving your personal signature on the event, is a delicate and powerful balance.
Advice: Expose yourself to global experiences—travel, read, ask questions, and immerse yourself in how others celebrate life. It’s in the blending of tradition and creativity that magic truly happens.
For those starting out: be curious, be patient, and don’t fear hard work. The industry looks glamorous from the outside, but it’s the behind-the-scenes grit, heart, and humility that set you apart.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, I’m absolutely open to collaborating—particularly with individuals who are willing to bring more than just ideas to the table. I’m looking for someone ready to invest time, effort, and financial commitment into a collaboration that’s rooted in growth, value, and long-term vision.
This isn’t a startup gamble—we’re a well-established brand with a proven track record in the events and culinary industries. What I’m seeking is a partner who can add value, maximize profitability, and contribute meaningfully to our continued evolution. For the right person, I’m even open to discussing equity opportunities.
If you’re entrepreneurial, resourceful, and excited by the idea of being part of something built on excellence and authenticity, let’s talk
