We recently connected with Idris Ajayi and have shared our conversation below.
Idris, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I keep my creativity alive by staying curious—always asking questions and observing people, whether I’m on set or just living everyday life. I like to explore different creative outlets, like writing, working as a production assistant, or even trying photography outside my usual comfort zone, because they open up new ways of thinking. I surround myself with things that inspire me—films, poetry, music, or powerful visuals—to keep my imagination fueled. I’ve learned that creating without pressure is key; some of my best ideas come when I’m simply making something for myself. Collaborating with other creatives, whether it’s actors, writers, or brands, brings fresh perspectives I wouldn’t find on my own. I also make sure to protect my peace—through rest, time in nature, and stepping away from screens to reset my mind. I often read a variety of books, from science to self-help, to spark new ideas that sometimes grow into something even bigger later on.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a model, actor, and production assistant who’s been working in the creative industry for several years now. I also express myself through writing poetry and storytelling—it’s how I process the world and connect with others. What excites me most about what I do is the freedom to constantly evolve. Whether I’m in front of the camera or behind the scenes, I’m always learning, growing, and collaborating with people who inspire me. Every project brings new energy and perspective, and that’s what keeps me passionate.
What’s special about my journey is that I’ve stayed grounded in who I am. I come from a place of humility and purpose—I’m doing what I love, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come without letting anything stop me. I hope that when people see my work or hear my story, they feel empowered to pursue their own passions too.
Right now, I’m exploring more creative directions—branching into photography, writing more consistently, and continuing to build connections in both the fashion and film worlds. There’s more to come, and I’m excited to share new sides of my creativity with the world.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey are resilience, humility, and a strong work ethic.
Resilience helped me push through rejection, uncertainty, and the pressure to compare myself to others. This industry can be tough, and not every opportunity will go your way, but learning to stay grounded and keep moving forward made all the difference.
Humility allowed me to stay open—open to learning, to feedback, and to working in different roles, from acting and modeling to being a production assistant. That mindset kept me growing and helped me earn real respect in this space. You never stop being a student in this industry.
And work ethic—that’s everything. Showing up early, staying late, putting in the effort even when no one’s watching—that’s what builds trust and creates opportunities over time.
For anyone just starting out: be patient with your growth, be open to learning from every experience (big or small), and never underestimate the power of showing up consistently with heart and professionalism. Develop your skills, stay true to your vision, and don’t be afraid to start small—every step forward matters.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
God has been the most helpful in guiding me through every challenge and shaping me into who I am today. There were times when I didn’t see a way forward—when I felt lost, overlooked, or unsure of my path—but through prayer and faith, God gave me strength, clarity, and purpose. Every skill I’ve developed, every opportunity I’ve had, and every moment of growth I’ve experienced comes from trusting Him and staying grounded in His plan for me.
I also have to thank my family. Their love, support, and belief in me—especially during the tough times—kept me going. They reminded me of who I am, even when I doubted myself. That foundation of faith and family is what truly helped me build the resilience, patience, and confidence to keep moving forward. I wouldn’t be where I am today without keeping God first and having my family by my side.
