Meet Crissy

We were lucky to catch up with Crissy recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Crissy, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

It comes from not being attached to material things. I’ve noticed—especially in this society—people often tie their worth to what they own. They believe their value as human beings is defined by their possessions. But that’s a very superficial way to live.

True generosity—the kind that’s quiet and real, not flashy—comes from understanding that things are just tools. You appreciate their value, but you’re not defined by them. You use them to make life easier, more efficient, more beautiful—but you don’t hold on too tightly. That freedom from attachment is what makes you truly generous. You give, not because you have to prove something, but because you already know who you are.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Crissy Medina, founder of Medina Fine Pearls—an independent jewelry brand offering authentic, ocean-inspired pieces made with real pearls and hypoallergenic materials, safe for even the most sensitive skin.

Our designs are meant to reflect your unique personality, with styles that range from dainty to bold and quirky. We’re currently popping up all over Orange County and hope to expand soon to Los Angeles, San Diego, and beyond!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that made the biggest impact on my journey were creativity, confidence, and courage.

Creativity allowed me to reimagine pearl jewelry in a way that feels personal and modern. To grow your creativity, give yourself permission to explore and make things just for the joy of it.

Confidence came from trusting my ideas—even when they felt different or uncertain. My advice? Don’t wait to feel ready. Take the first step and let confidence build as you go.

Courage was essential—especially when I moved countries, started over, and launched something from scratch. There will be people who instill fear or doubt, and sometimes, that even comes from those closest to you. But stay true to who you are.

Have faith that there’s a higher power guiding you. If you feel something so strongly in your heart, trust it. That inner knowing is often all you need to keep moving forward.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I believe real growth comes from honoring your strengths while also working on your weaknesses. Your strengths are your foundation, but being open to new paths is just as important.

I spent 15 years in education, working with some of the most amazing schools around the world. I could have continued down that path, but when I moved here, I felt a strong pull to start a business instead—that was the season I was being called into. Stepping into something completely new stretched me in ways I didn’t expect and unlocked a different kind of creativity and growth. I haven’t closed the door on education—I trust I’ll be guided back if that’s where I’m meant to be.

Committing fully to a path is important, but it’s just as essential to stay flexible when life points you in a new direction. That said, don’t jump ship the moment things get hard. Push through the tough moments to really discover what you want and what you’re willing to fight for.

The difference is passion. When you’re passionate, even burnout and exhaustion can’t stop you—there’s a fire inside that keeps you going. Trust that fire.

Life’s too short to go half-heartedly. Whatever path you choose, give it your all, stay teachable, and keep growing.
