Meet Rudy Live

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rudy Live a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rudy Live, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

My self-care routine is my sacred ritual, a time when I turn inward, tune out the noise, and reconnect with myself through intentional practices that bring me joy, peace, and confidence.

When I need to shut down and reset, I reach for my headphones and escape into the smooth, soothing rhythms of jazz. The music wraps around me like a warm embrace, softening my thoughts and creating space for stillness. Sometimes, I’ll take myself on a solo date just me, a movie, or a beautiful dinner at a nice restaurant where I can feel present and appreciated in my own company.

At-home spa days are where I go all out. I create a full sensory experience using products from my own skincare line, Good Ting Luxurious Skincare. It starts with a deep cleanse to refresh my face, followed by a full-body scrub that leaves my skin feeling renewed and silky smooth. Afterward, I top off my glow with my handcrafted Face and Body Glow Oil infused with calendula and rosehip for a radiant, dewy finish.

Depending on my mood, I’ll reach for my signature Lemongrass Body Oil and slather it generously over my skin, letting the calming scent and nourishing ingredients soak in. It’s a moment of pure indulgence, where every drop is a reminder that I am worthy of the same care I give to others.

And when the night winds down, you’ll usually find me curled up watching a good Netflix movie skin glowing, heart full, completely at peace.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a soca artist from the U.S. Virgin Islands with a fun, happy spirit and a deep love for music. I write songs about love, carnival, relationships, and just having a good time because that’s what life should feel like. I’ve been doing this for over ten years, proudly representing the USVI on stages both at home and internationally.

My journey started when I was a child, singing, acting, and writing poetry. Over time, those poems turned into songs that people connected with, and I knew I had found my voice. Creating music that brings joy, energy, and connection is what drives me.

In addition to music, I’m also the founder of Good Ting Luxurious Skincare, a plant-based skincare line I launched three years ago. My products are made for people with dry to normal skin who are looking for a more natural, nourishing option for healthier-looking skin. Skincare is another form of self-expression for me it’s how I take care of myself, and I love helping others do the same.

Right now, I’m doing a small island tour to promote my new single, “Finally.” It’s a fun, upbeat song about the excitement of waiting for that special day you’ve been dreaming of—whether it’s carnival, graduation, or any major life moment. I didn’t want to limit the feeling to just one event. It’s about that build-up, the joy, and the celebration when the moment finally arrives.

Looking ahead, I’m working on more music and other creative projects for 2026. One of my biggest goals is to launch a nonprofit for young teens, helping them get ready for real life with confidence and guidance. I also dream of opening my own performing arts school to give the next generation a space to grow, create, and shine.

As a proud female soca artist from the USVI, it means everything to me to carry my culture with pride. I’m here to spread good vibes, create good music, and make every moment a good ting.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My journey as an artist, a woman, and a believer has been shaped by three powerful qualities: patience, resilience, and putting God first.

I was raised by a strong woman my grandmother who taught me early on to keep God at the center of everything I do. That foundation gave me structure, discipline, and a deep sense of obedience. No matter what path I choose, I begin with prayer and trust that God will guide my steps.

Patience has been one of my greatest teachers. In moments that felt overwhelming, when things weren’t moving as fast as I hoped, I reminded myself that delay doesn’t mean denial. Learning to wait, to trust the process, has brought me peace even in the unknown.

Resilience has kept me standing. There were times in the music industry when people didn’t believe in me, when they made things harder or overlooked my talent. But I kept going. I pushed through the doubts, the closed doors, and the setbacks because this is my dream, not theirs.

To anyone coming up in this industry or chasing a dream of their own: stay patient, be resilient, and always keep God first. That’s how you stay rooted when everything around you tries to shake your faith.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most powerful lesson my grandmother ever taught me was how to pray and how to forgive. She always reminded me that holding onto grudges only weighs you down, and that true peace comes when you release hurt and give it to God.

Through her example, I learned that prayer is not just about asking for things, but about building a relationship with God, finding clarity, and healing through grace. Forgiveness wasn’t always easy, especially when people hurt me or doubted my dreams. But I heard her voice in my heart, reminding me that forgiveness isn’t for them it’s for me.

Because of her, I’ve been able to move through life with a lighter heart and a stronger spirit. Her wisdom still guides me every day.
