Meet Tahnee Wilson

We recently connected with Tahnee Wilson and have shared our conversation below.

Tahnee , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

t started in the quiet moments after chaos.

For years, I worked as a respiratory therapist in an ICU—through the thick of the pandemic, through heartbreak, exhaustion, and the kind of soul weariness you can’t quite put into words. I was showing up for everyone else, but I had lost sight of myself. Somewhere between the beeping monitors and the sleepless nights, I broke a little. Maybe more than a little.

After leaving the medical field with anxiety and PTSD, my therapist gave me a simple but life-changing challenge: Find joy outside of your children.

That’s when I picked up soapmaking.

What started as a creative outlet became my sanctuary. Over time, it grew into The Broken Circle Soap Co.—a space for healing, not just for me but for others as well. My purpose revealed itself in the lather and the scent, in the rituals of self-care that became small acts of reclaiming peace.

Now, I create not just to cleanse skin, but to offer comfort. My purpose is to help others, especially women who give so much of themselves—pause, breathe, and remember they’re worthy of care too.

The circle may be broken, but that’s where the light gets in.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m the founder of The Broken Circle Soap Co.—a bath and body brand rooted in healing and self-care. After working as a respiratory therapist through the pandemic, I left the ICU with anxiety, PTSD, and a need to rediscover myself. Soapmaking started as therapy, and slowly, it became my purpose.

Now, I handcraft natural skincare that helps others feel grounded, cared for, and confident in their skin. What makes my work special is the intention behind every product—each designed to turn daily routines into meaningful rituals.

Right now, I’m excited to be launching Ritual-Based Skincare Sets and a Monthly Subscription Box. It’s all about helping people reconnect with themselves—one bar, scrub, or moment of stillness at a time.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three things really carried me through: resilience, creativity, and the willingness to learn as I go.

Resilience got me through the hard stuff—leaving a career I thought I’d always have, navigating grief, and starting over from scratch. Creativity gave me an outlet to process it all and eventually build something beautiful. And being open to learning (and unlearning) helped me grow a business with zero background in entrepreneurship.

For anyone just starting, my advice is this:
Be gentle with yourself. You don’t need to have it all figured out—just start. Let curiosity lead. Don’t be afraid to make messy things, take imperfect steps, or ask for help. The growth comes in the doing.

And trust your gut. You’re allowed to build something that looks different from what everyone else is doing, especially if it’s rooted in your truth.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Honestly, my therapist was a huge turning point for me. She was the one who challenged me to find joy outside of being a mom, and that simple challenge led me straight to soapmaking. That moment cracked something open in me and gave me permission to rediscover who I was outside of survival mode.

Outside of that, it’s been a mix of my kids, my partner, and my community. My kids remind me daily why healing matters. My partner’s support gave me the space to explore something new. And the incredible women who’ve supported my business, whether they’ve purchased a product, shared a post, or sent a kind message, have been the fuel that keeps me going.

I’ve also leaned heavily on self-education. I’ve taught myself everything from formulation to marketing through trial, error, and a lot of late-night Googling. But none of it would’ve happened without that initial push to put myself back on my own priority list.
