Meet Tanya Stehler

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tanya Stehler. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tanya below.

Tanya, so great to have you sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our readers and so let’s jump right into one of our favorite topics – empathy. We think a lack of empathy is at the heart of so many issues the world is struggling with and so our hope is to contribute to an environment that fosters the development of empathy. Along those lines, we’d love to hear your thoughts around where your empathy comes from?

My dignosis of IGA Nephropathy. Which is a rare disease that has no Cure at the moment. It allows me to see each day as a gift. It has shown me to be present in the moment I am in. It has taken me down a Spiritual Journey to deepen my relationship with Jesus Christ. It has given me a different perspective of what is important. Which is not the built up treasures on Earth. However it is running the good race towards the Kingdom of Heaven.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the Ohio Ambassador for the IGA Nephropathy Foundation. I am very passionate about patient advocacy. I am honored to be attending Hill Day 2025.

IgAN Hill Day is a powerful moment for our community to speak directly to lawmakers, share our stories, and advocate for policies that support patients and families living with IgA Nephropathy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Be your own advocate!

2. Honor each day as a gift. Give yourself, your body & spirit Grace for its limits for the day.

3. Not everyone that is clapping for you wants you to win! Above all else Guard your Heart.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am in stage 4 renal failure. I am 20 years post kidney transplant. I do not have a new living donor yet. So I need help to get my Donor search out to everyone I can.
