Meet Leo Von Sol

We were lucky to catch up with Leo Von Sol recently and have shared our conversation below.

Leo Von Sol, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I honestly can’t not be creative. It’s think it’s just part of who I am. It’s in my blood, my DNA. I’m constantly taking in the world around me and filing little moments away. Watching music videos, bingeing my favorite shows, going to live performances, taking a dance class… those are all creative dates in disguise.

The Artist’s Way talks about the idea of artist dates, where you take yourself out to do something that fills your creative well. I live my life like that, without even thinking about it. I’m a fan of other people’s creativity, and that fuels my own. The more I witness beauty, movement, story, the more I want to create something of my own.

So keeping creativity alive? I just stay curious, stay in motion, and stay open. It’s all around me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Leo Von Sol, a bedroom pop crooner creating songs that feel like they belong in an indie film. My work blends intimate storytelling with dreamy production to explore quiet emotions, late-night thoughts, and the kind of moments that usually go unnoticed.

Right now, I’m focused on sharing my latest EP, The Karman Line. It’s a collection of songs that explore the in-between—what it feels like to float between who you were and who you’re becoming. One of the tracks, My Dying Star, just got a visual release, and it’s probably the most cinematic thing I’ve done yet. The video explores inner conflict and duality through movement, mood, and minimalism. It’s a project I’m incredibly proud of.

There’s also something new coming soon. It’s raw, stripped down, and captured during a very quiet weekend that changed me. I can’t say much yet, but it’s the most personal I’ve ever gotten in a project.

At the heart of everything I do is a love for storytelling and a desire to make people feel something real. Whether it’s through music, visuals, or live performance, I want each piece to feel like a scene you’ve lived through before, even if you haven’t.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three things that have shaped my journey the most are staying creative, being authentic, and building community.

First, staying creative. Even when I’m not actively working on a project, I keep myself inspired by watching music videos, going to dance class, seeing live shows, or getting lost in someone else’s art. Creativity isn’t something I turn on and off. It’s something I live with. That mindset keeps the spark alive, even during slow seasons.

Second, authenticity. With so much noise out there, what cuts through is honesty. People want to know your story. They want to feel something real. I’ve learned that the more I lean into who I actually am… my voice, my style, my point of view… the stronger my work becomes. You don’t need to fit into someone else’s mold. Your uniqueness is the thing.

And third, community. I wouldn’t be where I am without the people who’ve supported, challenged, and collaborated with me. Whether it’s fellow artists, creatives, or the listeners who show up… community makes the process feel less lonely and way more meaningful.

For anyone starting out, I’d say this: Stay connected to what moves you. Stay honest about who you are. And don’t try to do it all alone.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely. I love collaborating, and I’m especially excited to connect with more creatives here in Austin. I’m always looking to work with storytellers… people who see the world through a creative lens and want to build something meaningful together.

Whether you’re a photographer, videographer, producer, event coordinator, or part of a live venue team, I’d love to hear from you. I’m drawn to folks who care about mood, emotion, and crafting an experience (not just content). If that sounds like you, let’s talk.

The best way to connect is through Instagram @leovonsol. I’m always open to new ideas and collaborations that feel intentional and inspired.
