We were lucky to catch up with Brad Hutt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brad, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
You have to put in the work every day. This helps to build the confidence as well as the skills necessary to perform the task at hand. In every instance where I’ve felt like an imposter, I had to ask myself if I had done everything possible to learn, grow, and execute. I used to be a college baseball pitcher and those doubts would creep up before every start I had. Thankfully, I knew I had put in the work to perform at the level I needed to. This has rang true when I was a high school teacher, athletic trainer, and now as a chiropractor running my own practice. Having the internal dialogue to remind myself that I have what it takes and that I’m as prepared as I can be has been crucial to overcoming those doubts. “Fake it till you make it” gets tossed around alot when imposter syndrome is mentioned, but I like to remind myself that “I deserve to be here and in this position” by the fact that I’ve put in the necessary work that is needed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Revival Chiropractic is a family wellness chiropractic clinic in Cedar Park, Texas. We serve all ages, but have a passion for seeing perinatal mothers and pediatrics. Our mission is to awaken and restore the health of our community through family-centered, technology-driven, neurologically-based chiropractic care. Healthy kids become healthy adults and so our drive it to serve whole families. We use the latest technology and techniques to assess our clients and provide the best possible recommendations and care. With being neurologically-based, our focus is on optimizing the nervous system (the master controller of the body) and allowing it to function at its highest capacity. This focus is what differentiates us from other chiropractors in the area.
Revival got its name because we felt we were on the precipice of a major reawakening in healthcare. The health of our communities is trending downward, despite our country being the #1 spender in healthcare costs. The reliance on medications and a disregard for the innate ability to heal and thrive the way God uniquely designed us has come to a head. We wanted to open our clinic and position ourselves as a beacon of hope and healing for our community.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Be authentic. Be resilient. Always compete.
People respond to authentic people. It builds trust and allows for amazing connections to be made. I once read a quote that said, “The truth is, we all need all of you to be more of who you really are, and who you can be.” Basically, you’re an original and there’s no one like you. When you live from your authentic self, there is such a freedom that comes with it. Real joy is found here.
Life isn’t fair and that’s okay. Thankfully, we have the choice to respond and choose our next steps. Being resilient is about taking the hits along the way and continuing to move forward. Trials and challenges are part of the journey to becoming your truest self. James 1:2-4 says it better than I could; “When troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
Always compete! This is the athlete in me to strive and persevere in any circumstance. It keeps you disciplined and motivated to achieve and become the best version you can be.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Poverty, Riches, and Wealth by Kris Vallotton is a book that has influenced both my business and personal development.
Here are a couple nuggets that I refer back to all the time:
“Loving yourself is the key to a prosperous soul, which is the foundation for becoming wealthy and healthy in every area of your life.”
“Your personal capacity determines the level of your wealth.”
“Trust means you create expectations that you fulfill consistently. The fastest way to break trust in to overpromise and underperform. Remember this: Your repetition becomes your reputation. Advertising and marketing can get people in the door, but only consistency will keep them coming back.”
“Wealthy people live to leave a legacy.”
