Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Linda Evans. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Linda, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
I think my generosity comes from my faith which I learned from. My grandma’s in action. She was always giving and helping others in her family, in. Her church and In her community. I have been given so much so I can’t help to give to others. I think it is in my DNA as a kind loving person. I am always wanting to help and serve others via various means.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I love being an artist. I come from family of talented people and that is reflected in my skills and talents. I am a self taught artist and I create handmade jewelry, paint watercolor prints and do photography all inspired by nature. I have been creating jewelry for many years with semi precious stones, geodes, and glass beads. I have recently got back into photography. I am inspired by the flora and fauna of nature whether it be gardens of flowers or magical sunlit forests. I have partnered with a fellow artist James to bring a children’s book to life. I did the illustrations and we are working on getting it published and distributed.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I was lucky to have friends that saw my talents and told me to share my creations. They still encourage me today in my crafting.
One quality I had that was very important was determination. I kept trying to succeed and refused to give up.
Reading craft books, watching you tube videos, talking to art friends and talking to local artist helps you learn easier and faster than trying to do everything yourself.
I wish there were more classes that taught intermediate jewelry crafting or classes on business promotion. I would learn from others as much as you can.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I really think my friend Debbie has been most helpful in starting my crafting, encouraging my crafting, and helping me brainstorm about the business side of crafting.
I think my family has been helpful in providing for me so I can fulfill my crafty endeavors.
I also thank Jessica for her endless support and encouragement.
