Meet Marina Shkolnik

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marina Shkolnik. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Marina, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I didn’t. I have impostor syndrome most of the time. I think I have one of the biggest cases of impostor syndrome. I have become comfortable with taking the back seat, but I lead with my actions. You can win with the 10x rule. Work hard, and let hard work become a habit. When you work hard, you believe in your actions, and when you believe in your own actions and the ability to make what you envision a reality, impostor syndrome takes the back seat. But I think you need the impostor syndrome to keep you on your toes.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I like to work with people, I love the professional working world of people striving to achieve. And I love doing corporate photography. Capturing people’s expressions, bringing their best face forward.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Work hard, hard work. Baby steps are okay. Work on creating a clear vision. It’s okay to rest and collect yourself.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My mom and my dad. When I was scared to do something, which is a lot of the time, or take a step forward, my mom told me to imagine myself already doing it, to pretend I am someone else if I have to, live that moment, that life, in a way that would seem enjoyable and perfect. I think visualization is really impactful.
