Meet Eddie Pimentel

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eddie Pimentel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Eddie, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

That’s a great question! I’ve been lucky enough to do things I never really planned, like putting this whole project together with my producer and our amazing band. It feels like each step naturally leads to the next. Right after we released our first album One Way Home last September, we went on our first international tour, performing in Argentina and Brazil — including venues like Café Berlin, Hard Rock Cafe, and Blue Note.

Then it was time to release my first Christmas project, which included three songs — something that came about thanks to Tim’s request. And out of the blue, I got to reconnect with another one of my heroes, Michelle John, here in Brazil. She’s this unbelievable gospel singer from the UK. Now we’re working together on a new project! Things like this keep my creativity alive. It’s exciting to see my career moving forward step by step, always pushing me to go further.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a blues guitar player, singer, and songwriter currently based in Brazil. One of the most exciting realizations I’ve had is that we can always do more than we imagine. I initially dreamed of being a sideman, playing guitar for big-name artists. That dream took me to L.A., where I moved to pursue that career. But while I was there, something shifted — I had a turning point and decided to focus on my own path as a solo artist. I started singing and stepping into the spotlight.

It turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made. And the amazing part is, I still got to work with some of my favorite musicians — the very ones I had hoped to collaborate with as a sideman. So it’s like I got the best of both worlds.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

First, playing the guitar, my main instrument, was what made it possible for me to learn, practice, and eventually write music.

Second, playing with other musicians in real live situations taught me how to truly listen and connect musically.

And third, singing and embracing my own artistic identity allowed me to express my unique way of thinking and feeling music. Through that, I’ve been able to share my personal emotional experiences with others, using music as my voice.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! A lot of my ideas are already starting to come to life. One of my dreams that’s coming true is working with Michelle John — we’ve had some truly unbelievable moments in the studio. There was real magic happening, and I can’t wait to share it all! We also have more plans ahead, so stay tuned!

At the same time, I’m putting together a Brazilian project with some incredibly talented friends who really caught my attention from the moment we met — like Roberta Spindel, Indiara Sfair, Ricardo Maranhão, and others, including some American friends as well. I want to blend all of that — different backgrounds, styles, and energies — into something truly special.
