We were lucky to catch up with Brent And Briana Adams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brent and Briana, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Much of our resilience comes from our faith, our shared values, and the deep commitment we’ve made not only to each other – but to the purpose and vision we believe God places on our lives individually and collectively. We’ve walked through seasons that have stretched us, tested our foundation, and refined our character, and through it all, we’ve learned to lean into grace, communication, and community.
We also draw strength from knowing our story is bigger than just us. The challenges we face and overcome aren’t just personal – they’re part of our testimony and part of the legacy we’re building for our family. And even when we feel tired or discouraged, we remind ourselves of what we’ve already survived – and that gives us the courage to keep going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Brent and I have been married for nearly three wonderful years—our anniversary is coming up this December. Our love story began in August 2022, and just three months later, we tied the knot in December of the same year. It was fast, but when you know, you know.
Brent is a proud Brooklyn, New York native, while I was born and raised in the peaceful countryside of Virginia. We now call Prince George’s County, Maryland our home.
Brent is an Executive Chef and the Owner of Unique Palette Catering Company, where he brings his culinary artistry to life. I’m a nonprofit executive with over a decade of experience in the sector, and I recently launched Luxe Curated Tables, a passion project where I design and style bespoke tablescapes for special events.
Together, we truly are a dynamic duo—building businesses side by side has been one of the greatest joys of our marriage. Brent is also preparing to relaunch his signature seasoning line, while I continue developing Love Does Hard Things, a nonprofit I founded during my journey as a foster parent. My vision is to eventually open a group home here in Maryland, creating a safe and nurturing space for youth in need.
We are deeply passionate about our work, driven by purpose, and committed to building something meaningful together.
We also have a few exciting passion projects on the horizon. One of them is The Love Does Hard Things podcast, which will serve as a platform to share real, heartfelt stories about resilience, purpose, and doing the hard—but meaningful—work in life and community. Brent is also pursuing a powerful vision of creating a collaborative space for culinary entrepreneurs—a hub where chefs and food creatives can develop their craft, launch their ideas, and bring their culinary visions to life. His goal is to build a supportive environment that nurtures growth, creativity, and community in the culinary world.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Faith and Boldness in Decision-Making:
Marrying after just three months of dating and building businesses side by side required a deep level of trust—in each other and in the vision we felt called to pursue. That boldness, grounded in faith, has guided us through the uncertainties of entrepreneurship and foster care alike. It taught us to leap, even when we didn’t have all the answers.
Collaboration and Shared Vision:
One of our greatest strengths has been working together as a true partnership. Whether it’s Brent launching Unique Palette Catering or me curating tablescapes with Luxe Curated Tables, we support, uplift, and hold space for each other’s dreams. This shared vision, along with open communication, has been a powerful driver of our success.
Adaptability and a Learner’s Mindset:
From launching new ventures to navigating foster care and developing a nonprofit, our journey has required constant learning and flexibility. Embracing the unknown, seeking mentorship, and being willing to pivot have helped us grow—both personally and professionally.
Don’t wait for perfect timing—follow the nudge. Trust your instincts and move forward even if the full path isn’t clear. Bold steps often lead to beautiful growth.
Build with people who believe in your vision. Whether it’s a partner, mentor, or community, surrounding yourself with encouragement and accountability is essential.
Stay open to learning and be willing to evolve. Your initial plan may shift, and that’s okay. Keep refining your skills, seek feedback, and give yourself grace as you grow.
Most importantly, lead with heart. When your work is rooted in purpose, you’ll find the strength to overcome the hard moments and the joy to celebrate the meaningful ones.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely—we are always open to meaningful collaboration, especially with individuals who are purpose-driven and passionate about community, creativity, and impact.
Brent is eager to connect with fellow culinary entrepreneurs, chefs, and food creatives who are interested in building collaborative spaces, sharing resources, and cultivating opportunities for growth in the culinary world. He’s especially interested in partnering with those who want to develop innovative food experiences, pop-ups, or mentorship opportunities for emerging chefs.
I’m looking to collaborate with individuals and organizations in the nonprofit and event design sectors—those who are passionate about storytelling, advocacy, and building beauty with intention. Whether it’s through the Love Does Hard Things podcast, developing programs for foster youth, or curating powerful tablescapes for meaningful gatherings, I welcome collaboration that centers impact and authenticity.
