Meet Marcia Mehrali

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marcia Mehrali a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Marcia, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Being the only one in the rom has taught me how to lead without a blueprint, to speak up even when my voice shakes and to trust my instincts when no one else shares my perspective. I have learned to turn isolation into innovation-carving out space not just for myself but for others coming after me. Success didn’t come from fitting in; it came from standing out, staying grounded in my values and showing up with resilience that only comes from walking an unpaved path.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the founder of Beneath The Surface Spa in Madison, NJ and a partner with a cutting-edge wellness brand that bridges beauty and science. During my 34 years as a Flight Attendant, I made the leap into the beauty and wellness industry to help people feel as good as they look-from the inside out. Today I specialize in treatments like the Japanese Head Spa, Microchanneling (collagen induction therapy), while also offering high-absorption supplements that support skin, energy, hormones and longevity.

What’s exciting is how I’m blending esthetics with wellness in a way that’s both results-driven and deeply personal. My clients don’t just come in for a facial – they leave feeling lighter, healthier and empowered. I’ve also launched a podcast called Pretty Profit, where I highlight entrepreneurs, beauty pros, and experts who are redefining success on their own terms.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my reach – mentoring estheticians, introducing spa owners to the science behind our wellness products and bringing integrative beauty into new spaces. And yes, I just finished filming on The Blox, a reality show for entrepreneurs, where I stepped way out of my comfort zone to grow both personally and professionally. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, is that the most powerful transformation happens when you combine passion, purpose and a little bit of guts.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, the most impactful qualities that shaped my path have been resilience, relationship building and a deep commitment to understanding the connection between inner wellness and outer beauty. I actually started my career in esthetics while I was still working full time as a flight attendant-juggling both worlds until I eventually transitioned into my business full time. That taught me how to manage time, energy and priorities while pursuing something I truly believed in. Resilience showed up in those early days when I was building a brand on limited hours and big dreams. Relationship building became my foundation – from earning trust with clients to forming meaningful partnerships and mentoring others along the way. Any my passion for learning the science behind skincare and supplements helped me create an experience that delivers real, lasting results. These qualities didn’t just help me grow a business – they helped me build a brand that reflects who I am and what I stand for.

For anyone early in their journey, my best advice is to start before you feel ready. So many people wait until everything is perfect – but growth comes from taking action, learning on the fly and adjusting as you go. Invest in yourself, whether that means continuing your education, finding a mentor or just surrounding yourself with people who inspire you to level up. One of the most powerful things you can do is build real relationships, not just for business, but for community. People will remember how you made them feel far more than what you sold. Stay connected to your “why” – the reason you got into this in the first place. It will carry you through the tough days. And most of all, stop chasing perfection. The magic happens when you stop trying to be like everyone else and start owning what makes you different. That’s where confidence grows – and where your brand really begins to shine.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely, I’m always open to collaboration, especially with professionals and businesses who share a passion for results-driven wellness. Right now, I’m particularly focused on partnering with spa owners, estheticians, salon professionals, chiropractors and even wellness focused boutiques who are interested in offering science-backed supplements to support their clients from the inside out. These are not your average products-they’re formulated with patented absorption technology and supported by clinical studies, making them a powerful addition to any service based business. If you’re reading this and you’re passionate about helping people feel better, look better and live healthier, I’d love to connect and explore how we can grow together.
