Meet Georgette Tsongos

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Georgette Tsongos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Georgette, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I cultivate curiosity with every photo session and I am consistently inspired by light and nature. I’m always looking to expand and grow my photography and I love how creativity inspires and excites me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As long as I can remember, I have loved taking photos and the art of capturing a moment. My passion for photography grew when my daughter, Lotus, was born in 2004 and I began documenting her childhood with an eye toward catching each irreplaceable moment.
I became a professional photographer in 2012. I focused on portrait sessions initially, and then in 2017 I captured my first wedding and I was captivated by the experience. Hundreds of weddings later, it’s a gift to be a part of the most special days in the most special way.
I am so blessed with a creative husband that is also an amazing photographer. My husband, Steve is a videographer, too. We team up for weddings and events often!
I love nature and art and exploring Virginia and the Washington DC area for those non traditionally beautiful or off-the-beaten path spots that we often overlook. I’m a huge animal lover and it’s always super exciting when furry babies join a wedding day or photo session!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Calm, open and loving vibes! Staying present and inner and outer awareness are super important. I’m grateful every day for my life and my work and the opportunities that come my way.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I first started capturing weddings, I most definitely struggled with feeling overwhelmed. I take a lot of pictures and capture a lot of weddings and I found it easy to feel overwhelmed by the volume of pictures and the time frame they were to be delivered. Fast forward to now, I have a much better system in place and I do my best to manage my time well and be consciously aware. Mindset is huge! Calm vibes help keep things in perspective.
