We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elijah Jerkins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Elijah, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Funny story actually! When my wife and I had our first date, she said that food wasn’t her thing. Not from a taste standpoint, but more from textures. After that it kind of got me interested in being able to introduce her to different textures, ingredients and ideas. Basically being able to create a path that can show her that food isn’t always scary.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Along with building Chef’s PASSION, I am a Chef at Salute Market in Palm Beach Gardens. Between the two jobs I’ve been able to work on and tap into new cuisines and expand my flavors. Aside from that I am starting to dive into hosting a podcast where people can express their passions and how it drives them.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Support, Hard-work, and faith. With those three aspects you can achieve anything.
As far as advice goes, be you. You are the driving force behind of your dreams. Only you can make the choices and changes.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’d love you hear your story. Being able to collaborate and hear what drives people drives me. I seek everyone with a passion. What drives you, i want to hear it and be able to show others what its about.
