We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bec Price. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bec below.
Bec, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Your work ethic needs to come from within. You can’t want to work hard for others. It has to be a choice you make everyday to get up and do your best for your job!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a business owner! I work in floral design. At a young age I found people not wanting to take my artistic career goals serious so I had to dig deep and go full throttle on building my brand! I had to take that deep passion to be successful and produce great product! It was not easy and there were struggles but my drive kept me pushing forward! Everyday when I go into work I put my best self forward. If you do this everyday you can create magic and your career will bloom!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My advice to young entrepreneurs would be to fall madly in love with your job! If you want to climb the success ladder you have to give it your all! Put in the hours, Make it your one true purpose, and never give up on your goals! The young generation seems to have a perspective that they will only work on what their job titles says but I believe the most success people don’t complain or compare, they step up and get the job done no matter the job role!
Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
In every role in my field I want to be an expert! If there is one aspect of your job your not 100 percent confident in my suggestion is to work some extra hours, study, and train to become the best you can be! I don’t believe in the “fake it until you make it” thing. Put in the work! You can’t grow anything without watering the seed!
I was never good at delegating. But I found myself needing to take the lead as a business owner and that meant not doing everything on my own! My staff is amazing and if I have learned anything as a leader its to allow others to grow!
