Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ron Pickens. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ron, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
I believe my generosity comes from a few things.
1. Not having much growing up, though my parents did what they could to give me the best they had.
2. I feel its our humanly duty to help others that are without. Whether its financially if we’re able or by sharing helpful knowledge.
3. I also feel that no matter how far we grow in life, we should always give back to others.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a hard-working man rooted in dedication and passion. By trade, I work in the logistics field — keeping things moving, solving problems, and making sure the pieces come together. But my work doesn’t stop there.
I’m a giver and a listening ear to many. The kind of man people can call on — and know I’ll show up.
Off the clock, I live in my other passions. I’m an aspiring actor and voiceover artist, driven by storytelling. I believe every person has a story, and some don’t have the words or the medium to tell it. That’s where I come in. Whether I’m bringing a writer’s vision to life or breathing soul into a voiceover script, I strive to deliver something real, something that moves people.
I’m also a blogger. I share insights on entrepreneurship, finances, health, and motivation — tools and knowledge that I believe can change lives. Not because I have all the answers, but because I’m walking the path myself, learning, growing, and sharing along the way.
But above all, I’m a father and a proud grandfather of four beautiful babies. These roles defines my why. They keep me grounded and push me forward.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back I’d say…..
1. Persistence
2. Believing in myself
3. Knowing that tomorrow may or may not come
Advice: Follow the same formula above.
Stay persistent in your dreams or visions……always believe in yourself and know that what you are doing today, will have an impact on tomorrow…..or could be the last thing you ever do, so make it count. 🙂
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Short answer…..Take a break.
Sometimes I’m overwhelmed because I’m doing too much at once or have a lot on my mind and can’t fully concentrate.
My best remedies are to take a walk, listen to some good jazz or oldies, workout etc…….then come back to the matter at hand with a calmer mind.
It’s worked for me so far so it’s the regimen I stick to.
