We recently connected with Jake Crist and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jake , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
I think I developed the ability to take risk when I was a very young child. I remember being very adventurous and always loved to take risks, big or small!
The bigger the risk, more of an award there is at the end when you succeed!
I’m a professional wrestler, so taking risk is just a thing I do every time I get in a ring, one wrong step or slam my career could be over. The hazards are very real and you never know what could happen.
So taking risks are just second nature at this point and that’s how I still get a thrill out of my performances and art that I create.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
If there was only one word to use to describe Jake Crist it would be entertainer!
As a young boy my Father would tell me all the time that I was born to be an entertainer, I never really understood what he meant until I grew up and realized that without even knowing or trying I become the life of the party or activity/outing.
As a performer or pro wrestler I become the pulse of the show, the vibes are always great and fun, I uplift people and just try to give off an happy aura! For me it’s really wake up and choose happiness. Being an Entertainer I give off an energy that can’t be matched, so I feel my job is to make people forget about whatever is going on in their lives and for them to escape that reality, even if it’s just for a couple hours. I’ve been wrestling for 23 years now and I’ve had the honor and privilege of making almost 5 years of awesome/compelling television..
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Never giving up. I feel that’s so important and as young people, sometimes if we don’t take to it like a duck to water, it gets frustrating and people fall off quickly and just stop or they just quit. You have to keep in mind that whatever you might be doing it’s supposed to be hard and not everyone is supposed to be able to do it. Especially in the professional wrestling field..
2. Take risk, the higher the stakes the better of an outcome.
3. Set goals, see them through and don’t take no for an answer. Be undeniable.and become the best version of you and you’ll be unstoppable!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always down to do collaborations with people, if it’s video or photography.
