Kevin, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?
I made a decision a long time ago that if I’m going to do something away from the family, house, etc, it’s going to be music. I make sure that I do something for my music daily – whether it’s write a lyric, play, come up with a chord progression, make a new contact, inquire about a new venue – something, one thing minimum, that would help me.

Im a tireless performer, singer-songwriter playing throughout Nashville, Knoxville, Tri-Cities, New York in various venues that include theaters, listening rooms.
I have been featured in a National magazine sampler (Relix) and listed on their Artists on the Rise. Also I’ve been on ABC-affiliate TV spots, FM Radio and made meaningful partnerships with my guitar pick endorsements, guitar strap endorsements, pedal endorsements.
My music has been selected by a national pet brand for their hold music.
I recently was a finalist in the World Songwriting Awards & Josie Award nominee – “the largest, most respected, revered award and prestigious association in the independent music industry” – for Songwriter of the Year @ the Grand Ole Opry!
I am very blessed with all that music has awarded me…so far.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Be humble, be supportive, be appreciative of all that’s around you.
I’ve always felt that we are all in this together and we need to support one another especially with regard to music. It takes a lot to get in front of an audience for the first time and do a song that you created. We have all been there and we need to make sure that everyone is supported when they start out.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I was blessed to play with so many incredibly talented people over the years. John Condrone for sure was a standout for me. John’s a Grammy nominated songwriter and Dove Award winner and someone who gave me amazing confidence and support over the years. I will never forget meeting him, hitting it off, sharing stories and playing along side of him for over 150 shows. Incredible guy. I try to take what he’s given me and do the same for others. Incredible friend, amazing talent.
