Hi Denetro, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I believe my resilience was shaped early on by my upbringing and the challenges I faced growing up. My parents played a major role in instilling strength in me. I watched them push through difficult times with unwavering faith and determination, and that left a lasting imprint on how I navigate life.

I experienced a lot of adversity at a young age, and those experiences taught me that no matter how tough things get, you can overcome anything when you stay grounded in faith, have a sense of direction, and live with purpose. That mindset has carried over into how I operate my business today.

As the founder of Scentify Essence, resilience is woven into everything I do — from developing new products to setting up for events to pushing through quiet seasons. Entrepreneurship isn’t easy, but it’s purpose-driven. Every obstacle has been a lesson, every setback a setup for something greater. Resilience, for me, isn’t just about bouncing back — it’s about showing up fully, even when the odds feel stacked against you.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m the founder and owner of Scentify Essence, a handcrafted home and personal fragrance brand that creates non-toxic, coconut soy wax candles, multi-use sprays, carpet fresheners, diffuser oils, wax melts, and more. Each product is made with intention and blended in-house to offer both luxury and wellness — because I believe scent has the power to shift energy, change moods, and create a sense of peace in your space.

What makes Scentify Essence special is that it’s deeply personal. This isn’t just a business — it’s a reflection of my life journey. Every product I create is inspired by emotion, purpose, or memory. Whether it’s a candle for self-care, a room spray to refresh your energy, or a gift for someone special, my goal is to help people feel seen, uplifted, and cared for.

What excites me most is the connection I get to build with my customers and community. I’ve had the opportunity to set up at incredible events, listen to people’s stories, and witness firsthand how scent can bring comfort and joy.

This year has been a big one for growth — my husband officially joined me as a co-owner, and we’re proud to now operate as Scentify Essence LLC. We’re combining our vision and strengths to take the brand to the next level, including expanding into retail spaces, exploring larger wholesale opportunities, we are currently listed on Faire Wholesale now and continuing to enhance our event presence and product collections.

Outside of the business, I also run Boss Ladies United — a WhatsApp group chat where I connect women-owned small businesses with local pop-up event leads and resources in their communities. It’s my way of giving back and creating space for other entrepreneurs to grow and show up for themselves.

Scentify Essence LLC is more than fragrance — it’s a lifestyle, a legacy, and a reminder that you can build something beautiful from wherever you are, as long as you stay rooted in faith and purpose.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been faith, adaptability, and consistency.

Faith has been my foundation. There have been moments when things were uncertain — when I had no idea how something would come together, but I moved anyway. Faith reminded me that purpose comes with provision. For those just starting out, I encourage you to stay spiritually grounded. Whether that’s prayer, meditation, or quiet time — you’ll need something deeper than just hustle to carry you.

Adaptability has kept me going when things didn’t go as planned. Events get canceled, products don’t move like expected, and trends change — but being flexible has allowed me to pivot without losing sight of my goals. My advice? Stay open to learning, ask for feedback, and don’t be afraid to shift directions when needed. Growth comes from movement.

And lastly, consistency. That’s the part people don’t always see — showing up day after day, even when engagement is low or sales are slow. It’s the late nights, the early mornings, the vendor tables when it’s just you and your setup. Consistency is what builds trust, reputation, and results. Start small, stay steady, and don’t give up just because the progress isn’t loud yet.

The journey won’t always be easy, but if you stay rooted in your “why” and keep showing up with intention, the impact will speak for itself.
