We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lisa Kirkeberg. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lisa below.
Lisa, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I didn’t so much find my purpose as I created it. I spent years following paths that felt safe, predictable… forgettable. But purpose doesn’t whisper—it screams when you finally get still enough to listen. For me, that moment came when I picked up a camera and saw not just faces, but stories. Real women, real beauty, raw emotion.
Photography gave me the power to freeze strength and vulnerability in one frame. That’s when it clicked—this isn’t about pictures, it’s about transformation. My studio became a place where women come to be seen, heard, and celebrated—sometimes for the first time in their lives.
That’s my purpose. It didn’t come gift-wrapped. I had to carve it out with risk, grit, and a hell of a lot of heart.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the owner and artist behind Portraits by Lisa Ann, a luxury portrait studio in South Florida where I specialize in maternity, boudoir, and motherhood photography. But what I really do? I hold space for women to see themselves with fresh eyes—powerful, sensual, sacred, and stunning in their own skin.
Every session is a full experience—from professional hair and makeup to curated wardrobe and guided posing. It’s pampering, yes—but it’s also revealing. Women walk out taller than they walked in. They don’t just get portraits—they get a shift in how they feel about themselves.
What makes it special? It’s unapologetically personal. I don’t chase trends. I capture connection, confidence, and the quiet magic in the in-between moments. Every image is crafted to feel timeless—like a love letter to the woman in front of my lens.
As for what’s new—I’m focusing more energy on creating fine art albums and heirloom pieces that will outlast digital trends. These portraits deserve to be seen, touched, and treasured—not buried in a camera roll. I’m also refining my client journey to offer a deeper, more empowering experience start to finish.
This is more than photography. It’s a return to self.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience. Nothing tests you like building something from scratch. There were moments I questioned everything—my worth, my pricing, my direction. But I kept showing up. I didn’t wait for permission or perfect timing. I made mistakes, learned fast, and kept going. If you’re just starting: don’t romanticize the hustle, but respect the grind. Trust your evolution.
Emotional intelligence. Photography is deeply personal, especially in boudoir and maternity. Being able to read the room, sense comfort levels, and create a safe space—that’s where the real magic happens. If you’re working with people: learn to listen. Empathy isn’t just a soft skill—it’s a superpower.
Vision with boundaries. I learned to say no—to clients who weren’t aligned, to offers that didn’t serve me, to ideas that diluted my brand. Clarity is power. My advice? Know who you are, who you’re not, and build from there. Authenticity attracts loyalty. Not everyone will get you—and that’s exactly the point.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client?
She’s not just looking for pretty pictures—she’s craving an awakening.
She’s bold in spirit, even if she doesn’t fully know it yet. She values experience over bargain, understands the power of art, and isn’t afraid to invest in herself. She might be celebrating a milestone, reclaiming her confidence, or simply saying, “I deserve to feel this damn good.”
She appreciates luxury but craves intimacy. She doesn’t want a Pinterest copy—she wants to feel seen, safe, and stunning. She’s drawn to the raw, the real, and the refined.
And let’s be honest—she’s probably got a little rebel in her, just like me.
If you’re the kind of woman who whispers “maybe one day,” but your soul is screaming “now”—you’re my kind of client.
