Meet Liska Sims

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Liska Sims. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Liska below.

Liska , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Finding my purpose came after what felt like a breaking point. I had been laid off for the third time in Corporate America, and I remember feeling defeated and unsure of my next step. It was in that moment of uncertainty that I turned to prayer. I asked God to guide me, to show me where I was meant to be and how I could truly make a difference.

That prayer led me to real estate—and it was like everything finally clicked. My background in the mortgage industry gave me a solid foundation, but becoming a Realtor allowed me to serve people on a much deeper level. Whether it’s helping a first-time homebuyer achieve their dream or guiding a seller through a life transition, I get to be part of one of the most important journeys in someone’s life. It’s not just about buying or selling houses—it’s about empowering people, creating stability, and building community.

I didn’t just find a career—I found my calling.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a Realtor with Keller Williams Southwest, and I specialize in helping first-time homebuyers, sellers, and families navigating life transitions—like divorce or relocation—find their way home. What makes my work so special is the joy I get in guiding people through such a meaningful chapter of their lives. There’s nothing like handing someone the keys to their first home or presenting a seller with a photo book of their “sold” memories.

What sets my brand apart is the way I combine my background in the mortgage industry with my passion for service. I understand the full picture, and I’m committed to educating and empowering my clients every step of the way.

Right now, I’m working on expanding my brand to include more community engagement—like hosting free shredding events tied to food drives—and creating educational content for homebuyers. I’m also building out resources for clients going through major transitions, because buying or selling a home is never just a transaction—it’s a moment of transformation.

If there’s one thing I want people to know about what I do, it’s that I don’t just sell homes—I help people move forward with confidence, clarity, and care.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that made the biggest impact on my journey were resilience, relationship-building, and a deep understanding of the real estate and mortgage process.

Resilience was everything. Being laid off multiple times could have made me give up—but instead, it pushed me to seek purpose. For anyone starting out: expect some setbacks, but don’t let them define you. Keep showing up, keep learning, and keep the faith.

Relationship-building is the heart of real estate. This isn’t just a business—it’s personal. People trust you with one of the biggest decisions of their lives. I treat every client like family, and that’s what keeps them coming back and sending referrals. If you’re just getting started, invest time in truly connecting with people. Listen more than you speak, follow up, and always lead with integrity.

And finally, my knowledge of both the mortgage and real estate process has been a game changer. That foundation allows me to guide clients with clarity and confidence. If you’re new, never stop learning—read, shadow seasoned professionals, and ask questions. The more you know, the more valuable you become.

At the end of the day, success comes when passion meets preparation—and you stay grounded in your “why.”

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Without a doubt, God has been my greatest guide. Every turning point in my journey—especially after being laid off for the third time—came after prayer and trusting Him to show me the way. That divine direction led me to real estate and gave me the courage to build a business with purpose.

In addition to my faith, I’ve been blessed with mentors and leaders within Keller Williams who poured into me from day one. From coaching calls to training sessions to just picking up the phone when I needed advice—they helped shape the professional I am today.

And I have to give credit to my family and close friends who supported me unconditionally. They reminded me of my strength when I doubted myself and celebrated every milestone along the way.

Success never happens alone—it takes faith, community, and people who believe in your potential, even when you’re still discovering it yourself.
