Meet Mardi Winder-Adams

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mardi Winder-Adams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mardi below.

Hi Mardi , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I never realized I was resilient until others starting commenting. I was adopted into an amazing family, however my mother had serious health issues. Despite dealing with chronic health problems and pain, my Mom always found ways to celebrate life and support others. I watched her do this as a child and teen, never realizing how she was teaching me to believe in myself as she believed in herself, despite all the challenges she faced. Although my Mom passed away when I was I was in my early 20s, the memories of seeing how she navigated through all her many challenges in life and still offered everyone help and a welcoming smile is still a foundation of my resilience and positive attitude towards life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I have held many jobs over the last four decades, including those of teacher, behavior consultant, domestic violence client advocate, trainer, author, speaker, credentialed mediator, and certified ICF and BCC leadership coach. These roles have helped me find my passion, which is working as a divorce transition and high-conflict divorce coach.

I help women and men to work through the complexities, emotions, and the practical aspects of the divorce process. I provide confidential, one-on-one and on-demand live coaching services to individuals to help them navigate divorce with intention, information, and the support they need for themselves and their children. As a coach, my focus is on ensuring my clients are comfortable with all aspects of the process, from the first stage of contemplating divorce through to the finalization of the divorce and moving forward after the process.

On November 18th, 2025 I am hosting a virtual summit that brings together divorce experts who address various topics, including finances, healing and recovery, health and wellness, and creating the life you want to live. The D Shift Summit: Divorce, Discovery, and Doing Life Your Way offers a unique live virtual experience for anyone at any stage of the process.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I believe that the three qualities that help me most are:

1. Empathy – I believe that we need to focus more on understanding others to help reduce conflict and challenges in our relationships.

2. Lifelong learning – I am a strong believer in lifelong learning and I enjoy having the knowledge and expertise to be of value to my clients, colleagues, and those I interact with.

3. Independence – my background was one of learning how to be independent. This started with how my parents allowed me to try new things, gave me the opportunity to fail and learn from my failures, while also always unconditionally providing support and encouragement.

Take opportunities when they arise and don’t talk yourself out of stepping outside your comfort zone. This is not to say you shouldn’t research and investigate, but once you trust yourself you are more resilience and more open to the possibilities around you.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

A book that has really influenced me over the last 10 years is Michael Singer’s “The Untethered Soul”. This book moved my thinking and shifted me from focusing on the “facts”, to focusing on the bigger picture. It was both enlightening and a bit unnerving, but through reading and reflecting, I have made some significant changes in my life that have helped me be more intentional, intuitive, and comfortable with life events.
