Meet Jada Moss

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jada Moss. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jada, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from choosing to see the good in all things. I’ve learned over time that when we focus too much on the bad or negative parts of life, it can make us feel hopeless—like we’re incapable of making a difference or spreading joy. So instead of letting the hard things overwhelm me, I choose to be a light to others. I choose to help where I can. I choose to smile. I choose to love. I choose to be happy. And sometimes, I even choose to let go of places and things that only hold me back. That mindset comes from my faith in God and holding on to the promises revealed through scripture. But it’s also been shaped by my family and my own experiences with struggle—realizing that even in dark moments, there’s always something to hold on to.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’ve always enjoyed listening to songs that tell a story or relate to my own life. So when I first started songwriting, maybe around 9 or 10, I focused on writing about things I experienced — like family, friendships, faith, dreams, and the fairytale romances I’d see on TV from all my favorite Disney princesses. Now that I’m older, my music centers on faith, hope, and love. I’ve even developed my own sound. Being raised in church, I’d say my style blends my gospel and soulful background with pop and R&B. I like to joke that my music is a hug in song form.

What excites me most about what I do is how freeing everything is. There are no limits to the stories I can tell or the sounds I can explore. But the most special part is the connection I get to make with people through my music. I’ll never forget the first time someone told me my singing made them feel something — I was surprised, like, “Wait, my voice really did that?” Since then, I’ve been all in, putting my heart into every song to hopefully bring some light to someone else’s day.

Right now, I’m focused on just living life so I have more to write about. I got inspired by something Ed Sheeran said a while back when he talked about taking time away from music to live more fully — so he’d have fresh stories to tell when he came back. That really stuck with me because that’s what being a songwriter is all about. So for now, I’m soaking up life and experiences. But trust, there’s so much more music coming your way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think three qualities that are necessary in any journey—professional or personal—are resilience, community, and faith. These have been especially impactful for me. The journey is never easy, so resilience comes first—you need that to avoid quitting too early. Community is also essential because those are the people who have your back when times get tough. Every time I felt like quitting, people in my community encouraged me to keep going. They sent me songs to cover on YouTube, encouraging messages, or shared opportunities to perform. You can’t succeed on journeys like this alone—it can get pretty rough out here, and you need somebody to support you. Lastly, I say faith is a necessity because life is unpredictable. One scripture that’s really helped me is Hebrews 11:1, which says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” It’s hard to see success when you’re at rock bottom, but faith reminds us to keep going and keep hoping, even when we don’t yet see the results. None of these qualities comes naturally. You get better at them as you keep going. So take it from me—hold on to these three throughout your journey.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I have to credit my parents as my backbone. I’ve seen them do the impossible over and over again—making things happen even when everything seems to be falling apart. They embody strength, resilience, and love. Whenever I’m going through a difficult time or need advice on what to do, they’re always the first people I turn to. I like to remind myself that if they could push through anything, and I was raised by them, then there’s no doubt I can too.
