Meet Jared & Marissa Boyette

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jared & Marissa Boyette a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jared & Marissa, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout

Burnout is a very real challenge both personally and professionally. In 2023 we started our own business while also having a baby who at that time wasn’t even a year old. There were many reasons that led us to entrepreneurship but the biggest motivation was becoming parents and wanting more for our family. Working with your spouse, there’s a constant push and pull between growing the business, raising a family, and still showing up for each other as partners. We’ve learned that avoiding burnout isn’t about finding perfect balance—it’s about being intentional with how we manage the chaos.

One of the biggest ways we’ve navigated the burn out is by having regular check-ins with each other. These aren’t just about work tasks—they’re about how we’re each doing personally, where we need support, and how we can adjust before things become overwhelming. We also plan a quarterly date night that focuses specifically on both personal and professional growth. It’s our time to step back, dream a little, and make sure we’re still setting goals and building a life we love—not just a business.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

We’re the husband and wife team behind Mynt Electric, our family-owned electrical contracting company is based out of Mesa, Arizona. We specialize in residential and commercial electrical services—from panel upgrades and EV charger installations to custom lighting and new construction projects. What sets us apart isn’t just the quality of our work, but the heart we put into every project. We’re committed to building trust, showing up with integrity, and creating a company culture where both our team and our clients feel valued.

What’s most exciting for us is getting to serve the community we live in. There’s something incredibly special about wiring a family’s dream home or bringing power to a local business and knowing we played a small part in their story. We also love being able to build a business that reflects our values—not just as electricians, but as a family.

Right now, we’re focused on steady growth while maintaining the quality and customer service we’re known for. Our team is growing and we are putting our expertise to work on some really exciting projects in our community. We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the support of our clients, business partners, and the incredible team that’s helping us bring power and purpose to homes and businesses across the Valley.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in our journey have been adaptability, communication, and grit.
Adaptability has been essential. No matter how well you plan, things change—whether it’s project timelines, staffing needs, or even your own goals. We’ve learned to pivot quickly, problem-solve creatively, and not let the unexpected shake our long-term vision.

Communication—especially as a husband and wife team, has been a make-or-break skill. Being open, honest, and respectful in both business and personal conversations has helped us stay aligned, avoid misunderstandings, and build trust with our team and clients. If you’re just starting out, invest in clear communication early. It’s not always easy, but it’s absolutely worth it.

And finally, grit. Starting and growing a business isn’t for the faint of heart. There will be long days, hard seasons, and moments of doubt. But staying the course—showing up every day with purpose and pushing forward even when it’s tough—is what builds momentum and resilience.

Our advice to those just beginning their journey is to give yourself room to learn. Don’t expect perfection—expect progress. Lean into the messy, chaotic days and absolutely ask for help when you need it. Never lose sight of why you started because growth happens when you keep going, even when it’s hard!

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Our mentors and industry peers have been incredibly valuable. We’ve been fortunate to connect with other business owners both personally and professionally who were generous with their time, advice, and lessons learned. Their willingness to share what worked—and what didn’t—helped us avoid some early missteps and gave us the confidence to trust our instincts.

As a husband and wife team, we’ve also leaned heavily on one another through every high and low. We balance each other out—where one of us feels overwhelmed, the other steps in with support, encouragement, or perspective. We’ve grown together not just as partners in life, but as partners in business, constantly learning and pushing one another to be better.

Lastly, our team and clients have played a huge role in shaping who we are as business owners. Their feedback, loyalty, and belief in our work have helped us grow in ways we never imagined. It’s a daily reminder that success is never a solo journey—it’s built on relationships, support, and a shared vision.
