Meet Faith Karokatose

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Faith Karokatose. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Faith below.

Faith, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

When I moved to Canada, I went from being surrounded by familiarity to being completely unknown in a new city, a new system, and a new business. I launched my brand with no connections, no mentors, and no one to call for help, just instinct, grit, and faith.

There were moments I’d walk into a room, physical or digital, and feel that familiar silence. No one looked like me. No one sounded like me. And definitely, no one was building what I was building. I used to shrink in those moments, second-guessing everything: my accent, my approach, even my product. But then I realized something powerful: being the only one isn’t just a challenge. It’s a calling.

It means you’re building something new. And new often looks like “different” before it looks like “brilliant.”

I remember filming one of my first TikToks to promote my bags. I was nervous, overthinking how people would see me. I felt exposed, vulnerable… maybe even cringey, but I posted it anyway. That video? It led to my first viral video on TikTok. It taught me something I’ll never forget: people connect more to real than to perfect.

So I leaned in. I stopped apologizing for taking up space and started using that space to tell a story only I could tell – one of migration, reinvention, and creating beauty with limited resources. I showed up, even when I felt unseen. And slowly, people started to see me. Not just as the only one, but as someone who belonged.

Now, every time I feel out of place, I remind myself: you’re not here to blend in. You’re here to build what’s missing.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

At Kún Kulture, we believe a handbag is more than an accessory; it’s an extension of who you are. I’m Faith, the founder, and our brand was born from a quiet frustration that ultimately blossomed into something far greater.

It all began in Nigeria, where my search for a truly personal bag – elegant yet understated, refined but never rigid always ended in disappointment. I craved quality and intentionality, a style that spoke softly yet clearly, beyond fleeting trends or overt logos. When I couldn’t find it, I knew I had to create it.

That’s how Kún Kulture started. Kún means full, and Kulture reflects the art and individuality we carry. Together, our name signifies more than just handbags; it’s about identity, expression, and showing up in the world with something that genuinely feels like yours.

I launched the brand with just 20 bags and no formal fashion background, only instinct and a deep desire to build what I couldn’t find. When I moved to Canada, I brought the brand with me and refined its vision. Today, Kún Kulture crafts bags for women who effortlessly embody polished sophistication; she values exquisite detail, unparalleled quality, and an innate sense of ease in her style.

What excites me most is the unique space we’re carving out, one not defined by fleeting trends or rigid traditions, but by purposeful design. Every one of our pieces is meticulously crafted with care: clean lines, premium materials, subtle structure, and thoughtful details that support real life. These are bags that feel good in your hands, integrate seamlessly into your routine, and age beautifully over time. They’re functional, durable, and truly timeless, the kind of pieces you instinctively reach for every day.

We’re currently working on something new and incredibly special: our first in-house design, set to launch very soon. This project has involved months of research, prototyping, and reimagining what a “perfect” everyday bag could be. This launch marks a bold and exciting step forward for the brand, transitioning from curating to creating our signature pieces. I can’t wait to share it with the world.

Ultimately, Kún Kulture is more than just handbags. It’s a movement for women who demand more: more quality, more intention, and a style that truly resonates as their own. This is precisely what I’m building for them.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three foundational qualities have unequivocally shaped my journey in building Kún Kulture: resourcefulness, unwavering self-belief, and profound emotional resilience. These aren’t just personal attributes; they’ve been the bedrock of our brand’s evolution.

Resourcefulness: When I first embarked on the Kún Kulture journey, I lacked the conventional playbook – no formal training, no established connections, certainly no substantial budget. What I possessed, however, was an insatiable drive to figure things out. This meant becoming my solution finder: relentlessly researching, prototyping, asking every question, and embracing the iterative process of trial and error. Whether it was deciphering international sourcing logistics in a new country or mastering video editing at midnight, resourcefulness became my most potent currency. It’s about seeing constraints not as roadblocks, but as creative challenges to overcome.

Advice: Never wait for perfection or for all the answers to materialize. Start precisely where you are, with what you have, and let your innate curiosity be your compass. Resourcefulness will unlock doors that even the most impressive credentials can’t.

Self-Belief: There were countless moments when the internal dialogue could have led me astray, especially when my vision felt unseen or, worse, underestimated. Yet, I’ve learned that conviction in your path must emanate from within; it simply cannot be outsourced to external validation. You must truly see your vision, even before anyone else can glimpse it. This internal anchor is what sustains you when the external world is silent.

Advice: Be fiercely protective of your vision. You don’t need to command the loudest voice in the room, but you absolutely need to be grounded in your purpose. Consistently reconnect with your “why,” particularly when the applause fades and the path feels solitary.

Emotional Resilience: Entrepreneurship, particularly when your brand is so deeply intertwined with your personal story, can be an intensely vulnerable endeavor. You’ll navigate exhilarating highs and challenging lows from agonizingly slow sales days to launches that barely register a ripple. Learning to depersonalize the outcome, to distinguish rejection from your inherent identity, and to steadfastly continue moving forward even when no one is cheering has been crucial. This capacity to rebound, to adapt, defines longevity.

Advice: Cultivate intentional practices that keep you centered, whether it’s journaling, praying, taking walks, or stepping away when needed. The objective isn’t to become impervious to challenge, but rather to develop the innate wisdom to return to your core when life or business shifts beneath your feet.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely! And thank you for asking! I’m genuinely excited about building intentional, value-aligned collaborations for Kún Kulture. It’s about so much more than just a transaction; it’s about connecting with people who truly get what we’re trying to build and want to be part of that journey.

I’m eager to partner with creative minds, strategic thinkers, and influential connectors who understand the magic of brand storytelling and the long game of creating something meaningful. Think of it this way: if you’re a marketing expert who loves diving deep into authentic narratives, a fashion stylist with an eye for timeless elegance, a photographer who captures more than just an image, a writer who makes words sing, or someone who’s helped grow brands with heart, you’re exactly who I’m looking for. I’m especially drawn to people who see branding as beyond just aesthetics, and marketing as more than just numbers. It’s about depth, purpose, and lasting impact.

Kún Kulture is entering such an exciting new chapter, and I truly believe that some of the most beautiful work happens when passionate people come together. If you’re reading this and something in your gut just clicks or if you feel aligned with the soul of Kún Kulture and have ideas, skills, or stories you’re burning to bring to life with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
