We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth Kolusenko. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.
Elizabeth, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Hello! I am Elizabeth. I’ve been playing guitar since 2010 and have been a part of several bands over the years. Music has always been a huge part of my life, but at one point I went through a period of depression and stopped playing for almost two years.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In 2023, everything changed. I ordered a custom bass guitar from my friend who builds instruments under the name KVIK Guitars. That guitar reignited my passion. I started recording bass covers and rediscovered my love for music.
Now, in 2025, I’m playing in three bands: Salvation For Me, RASHAMBA, and RAYA BOND. More opportunities keep coming, and I finally feel like I’m living my purpose through music.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful things in my journey were:
Consistency and discipline. Even when I didn’t feel motivated, the habit of picking up the instrument and practicing regularly helped me grow.
Advice: Start with small, consistent steps. Practice even when you don’t feel like it — the discipline pays off over time.
Emotional resilience. I went through depression and stopped playing for about two years. But I came back stronger, and that break taught me the importance of mental health and patience with myself.
Advice: Don’t be afraid of pauses or setbacks. Healing is part of the process. Be kind to yourself and stay open to starting again.
Curiosity and self-expression. Once I started creating bass covers and working with different bands, I discovered how much I love expressing myself through music.
Advice: Try different things. Don’t be afraid to experiment — that’s how you find your unique voice.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I’m always open to collaborations!
Sometimes I reach out to musicians myself, and sometimes they contact me — it’s always a mutual vibe and creative connection. I love working with passionate artists who are open to sharing ideas and experimenting.
I’ve also had the chance to collaborate with brands like Seymour Duncan and Focusrite, who appreciated that I consistently tag and mention them in my posts. I make sure to credit the bands I cover as well — and it’s been so cool to even get reposted by Thirty Seconds To Mars!
If you’re reading this and want to collaborate, feel free to message me on Instagram or any platform where you found my work — I’d love to connect!
