Meet Sage Bara

We recently connected with Sage Bara and have shared our conversation below.

Sage, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic was shaped by a childhood deeply rooted in the performing arts. Dance, music, theatre, and performance were part of my everyday life. The long hours of study built a strong inner discipline, while early mornings, late-night rehearsals, and countless performances taught me the value of preparation and perseverance. My teachers and directors instilled in me not only the personal drive to always give my best and push past perceived limits, but also the responsibility to show up fully for my castmates, my audience, and the greater creative effort. That foundation carries into my work today, especially in serving our wedding clients on one of the most meaningful days of their lives. I bring that same commitment, professionalism, and wholehearted presence to every event we create.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

At Belle Soul Florals, I create custom floral designs for weddings and special events, with a focus on intentional, artful details that reflect each client’s story. What’s most exciting to me is how flowers have the power to completely transform a space, visually, as well as emotionally. They set the tone, create a sense of occasion, and bring people into the moment in a way that feels both grounding and magical.

What makes our work special is the personal connection we build with our clients. No two designs are ever the same because no two celebrations are the same. I bring over a decade of experience and a background in the performing arts, which has shaped the way I approach design—with attention to rhythm, movement, and creating an atmosphere that feels both intentional and alive.

Right now, we’re in a beautiful phase of growth. In addition to our fresh floral offerings, we’re expanding into custom faux floral design—perfect for clients who want lasting beauty with a sustainable, stress-free approach. It’s an exciting evolution of our brand, one that allows us to offer the same level of luxury and artistry with a new kind of flexibility.

At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to beauty, authenticity, and the joy of celebrating love.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three things have made the biggest impact on my journey: creativity, resilience, and communication.

Creativity, of course, is at the heart of what I do, but it’s more than just making things look beautiful. It’s about problem-solving, being adaptable, and finding ways to tell a story through design. For anyone starting out, I’d say: feed your creativity often. Look outside your industry for inspiration, art, nature, music, architecture, and let it all inform your perspective.

Resilience is just as important. This field can be physically demanding, emotionally vulnerable, and full of unexpected challenges. Being able to pivot, stay grounded, and keep going, even when it’s not perfect, is key. Give yourself space to grow, and don’t be afraid to learn as you go.

And finally, communication. So much of this work is about building trust with clients, collaborators, and your team. Being able to listen deeply, articulate your vision, and hold space for others’ ideas makes the entire process smoother and more fulfilling. If you can learn to lead with clarity and kindness, you’re already ahead.

Each of these is a practice, not a destination. Keep showing up, stay curious, and give yourself grace as you grow.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

I’ve often joked that I’m a bit of a tortured artist, obsessing over every detail and holding myself to incredibly high standards when it comes to floral artistry and overall event design. But over the past year, I’ve grown so much in learning to let go of that perfectionism and focus instead on the hundreds of happy, fulfilled clients we’ve had the honor to serve.

My son, who works alongside me in our family business, said something that really stuck with me: “As long as we’re giving our best, that’s what matters.” It’s a wild challenge to create something so personal and meaningful out of materials that are fragile, fleeting, and grown by nature, for one of the most important days in someone’s life. The weight of that can be intense.

What’s shifted for me is learning to stay present with the joy, love, and intention that each design represents. That mindset has been incredibly freeing. I’m deeply grateful for the outpouring of love from our clients and that’s what I choose to focus on now.

This shift has made my creative process more intuitive and joyful, and it’s deepened the way I connect with my clients.
