Skye, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from my personal experiences. At ANNOVA, we proudly donate thousands of dollars worth of products each year to the autistic community. This commitment is deeply personal to me. Some of my own family members are autistic, and their experiences continue to inspire and motivate my efforts to give back.
With those roots in mind, I designed ANNOVA’s flatware with easy-to-hold handles, thoughtfully considering the sensory and functional needs of the autistic community. We are honored and grateful for the opportunity to support and give back to a community that means so much to us.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I spend most of my time in my office, living room, and kitchen. These are my favorite places in my home and where I feel the most inspired. Over time, I realized that the everyday items I used in these spaces, like flatware sets and desk organizers, felt bland and uninspired. As someone who loves color and storytelling through design, I wanted pieces that could spark joy, make a statement, and truly reflect personality.
That’s what led me to create ANNOVA, a collection of colorful, thoughtfully designed home essentials that turn ordinary moments into something joyful and memorable. What started as a personal project to brighten up my own home quickly transformed into a business built on bringing beauty and personality into other people’s lives too. From vibrant and colorful flatware sets to conversation starting organizers, every product is designed to make the everyday feel a little more special.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, there are three key qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey: creativity, resilience, and a willingness to learn. Creativity has been the heart of everything I do. From products that I design to marketing, creativity allows me to problem-solve in unique ways and bring joyful, eye-catching pieces into people’s homes. I’d encourage anyone to dedicate time to creative thinking. Give yourself permission to experiment. Not every idea you come up with will work, but the process of trying new things is what helps you find you and your brand’s unique voice and style. Building a business comes with unexpected challenges. Personally, I struggled in the beginning to get my supply chain running smoothly. You need resilience to push through those hardships. For me, it helped to stay focused on why I started in the first place. I kept reminding myself that every obstacle was part of building something meaningful. If you’re just starting out, try to embrace the ups and downs as part of the process. When I started my business, I didn’t know a lot about manufacturing, logistics, or how to build a brand. I had to learn everything as I went, and that curiosity became one of my biggest assets. Whether it was asking questions, reading articles, or communicating with other entrepreneurs, I stayed open to learning. You just need to be open and proactive about figuring it out as you go. Ultimately, these qualities helped me grow from someone with a colorful idea into a founder with a real brand.
