Meet Taylor Davis

We were lucky to catch up with Taylor Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Taylor, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my mom, without a doubt. She’s been a business owner my whole life, and I grew up watching her work tirelessly to build something of her own while still showing up fully for our family. That kind of dedication really shaped how I approach work. I’ve always had a lot of drive, and I think that started by watching her lead by example.

Now that I’m a mom myself, that drive has only deepened. My daughter is such a huge part of my “why.” I want her to grow up seeing what it looks like to chase something you believe in. I’ve honestly never worked harder in my life, but it also feels more fulfilling than anything I’ve ever done. In the corporate world, it was easy to feel burnt out. But building something of my own that’s rooted in family and connection motivates me in a completely different way.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a recipe developer and content creator who shares approachable, flavor-packed meals with a special focus on easy recipes for moms and busy families. I develop recipes that are simple enough for weeknights but meaningful enough to bring people together. I truly believe food is one of the most powerful ways we create connection in our homes, and that’s at the heart of everything I do.

I also create content that blends motherhood, daily life, and realistic rituals – from cooking with my daughter Ruby to navigating solo parenting while my husband travels for work. My brand is rooted in authenticity and heart. It’s not about picture-perfect moments, it’s about showing up and finding joy in the real, sometimes chaotic, everyday stuff.

What’s most special about what I do is that I get to build a community of moms who want more meaning around their dinner tables – whether they’re cooking with their kids, figuring out what to make with what’s in the fridge, or just looking for a little inspiration during nap time. I’m always sharing new recipes, baby-friendly meal ideas, and lifestyle vlogs that reflect this season of life I’m in.

Right now, I’m continuing to grow my platform across Instagram, TikTok, and my blog, and I’m working on expanding more into email and Pinterest to connect even more deeply with my audience.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three things have made the biggest impact on my journey: my previous work experience, my scrappiness, and my creativity.

Even though I wasn’t creatively fulfilled in the corporate world, I’m incredibly grateful for that chapter. I learned so much – how to manage people and projects, communicate clearly, and take feedback. Those skills have served me well as an entrepreneur. I also had a few great mentors along the way who really shaped how I show up professionally.

The second quality is being scrappy. When you run your own business, especially as a content creator, no one hands you a roadmap. You have to figure things out as you go – and thankfully, we live in a time where so many resources are just a Google or YouTube search away. I’ve had to learn everything from SEO to video editing to managing a content calendar, and while it’s overwhelming at times, it’s also empowering.

Lastly, being creative has always been a strength of mine, and it’s something I try to nurture daily. Whether it’s developing a new recipe or telling a story through a reel, creativity is what keeps my work exciting and fulfilling.

For anyone just starting out, my biggest advice is: learn as much as you can. Soak up information, try new things, and don’t be afraid to reach out to people you admire – you’d be surprised how many are willing to offer guidance. And most importantly, don’t view roadblocks as failures. Every challenge is a chance to grow and refine your path. Keep going.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Without a doubt, the biggest area of growth for me in the last 12 months has been becoming a mom. It’s been the most transformative shift of my life – personally and professionally. Navigating new motherhood while running a business hasn’t always been easy, and there have been plenty of moments where I’ve felt stretched thin or unsure of how to balance it all. But at the same time, it’s also given me a deeper sense of purpose and clarity in my work.

Motherhood has made me more intentional with my time, more empathetic in my storytelling, and more rooted in my “why.” It’s helped me connect with my audience on a much more personal level, especially other moms who are trying to do a lot with limited time and energy. I’ve learned how to work smarter, set better boundaries, and let go of perfectionism in ways I never did before.

It’s challenged me, for sure but it’s also helped me grow in the most beautiful ways.
