Cherri , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

Walking into rooms where I’m the only designer offering inclusive sizing has become a familiar experience and I’ve allowed it to become my motivation. Understanding the responsibility I carry, while also knowing there are models and audience members looking for representation that often isn’t there ignites a fire in me. My goal is to make space for every body type and celebrate every style with intention. From carefully styling each swim look to hosting runway rehearsals that build confidence and poise, I pour into every detail to make sure my models feel seen, celebrated, and runway-ready. Even when I’m underestimated at first, I let my work, my energy, and the way I uplift others speak for me. By the time the show ends, people aren’t just noticing they’re inspired.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m the founder and designer behind Cherri Cheeks Swimwear—an all-inclusive, plus-size-friendly swimwear brand that’s all about bold colors, elevated designs, and making every body feel celebrated. What makes my work so special is that I don’t just design swimsuits—I create full experiences. From offering personalized fittings, consultations, and custom designs, to styling curvy influencers and coordinating themed photoshoots for each piece, I’m committed to making sure every client feels confident and seen.

At Cherri Cheeks Swimwear, we specialize in creating all-inclusive, plus-size-friendly swimwear that’s bold, vibrant, and designed to make every body feel confident. What makes our work special is that we don’t just design swimsuits—we create full experiences. From offering personalized fittings, consultations, and custom designs to working with curvy influencers and styling themed photoshoots for each piece, we’re passionate about helping people feel their best.

Our latest launch, the ‘Juicyy Fruit’ collection, is a tropical-inspired line featuring lush velvet fabrics and playful, eye-catching colorways—perfect for summer getaways. Each design was thoughtfully crafted to flatter a wide range of body types while bringing a burst of color and style to every look.

Beyond my brand, I also serve as a model coordinator with the renowned S.A.S Production Studios here in Los Angeles, helping models prepare and show up with confidence for major shows and shoots. I’ve had the honor of being a featured designer at Los Angeles Fashion Week for two consecutive years, along with participating in other runway shows and TV exclusives.

To add to my creative energy, I’m also an event curator for LA’s newest nightlife experience “Curvy Karaoke” a platform that highlights performers and encourages self-expression through music and performance.

Whether it’s on the runway, in front of the camera, or at an event, our mission is to create spaces and moments where people feel empowered, stylish, and unapologetically themselves.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

First, believe in your craft and know that God gave you this skill with intention. Trust that what you’re creating has purpose and value. Second, believe in the quality of your work and stand behind it with confidence because when you pour from a genuine place with detail into what you do, it shows. And third, avoid falling into the trap of comparison. It’s easy to look at what others are doing, but comparison is the thief of joy. Stay focused on your own lane, let any setbacks fuel your growth, and keep going no matter what. That’s where real resilience and perseverance are built.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

Our ideal client values unique, high-quality designs that highlight and celebrate their curves. They’re looking for more than just a swimsuit, they want a unique look that stands out and cant be replicated leaving them feeling confident, empowered, and seen.

They may be a curvy influencer, a plus-size model, or simply someone preparing for a vacation, photoshoot, or special event where they want to look and feel their absolute best. They appreciate personalized service,whether that’s a custom fitting, a consultation, or a fully styled photoshoot.

They also align with your brand values of inclusivity, self-expression, and unapologetic confidence. They love vibrant colors, luxe fabrics, and the feeling of being part of a community that celebrates all body types.
