Meet David B. Meadows

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful David B. Meadows. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with David B. below.

David B. , we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. Several years ago, I went through a brutal breakup…I was heartbroken, depressed, and lost. In my entire life, I had never felt this way and as the months dragged on, I knew something had to change. I began reading a ton of different books and educating myself on Psychology and self-care. Up until this point in life, I always just “powered through”. I always looked at myself as a limitless reserve of energy and determination and it wasn’t until this event that I felt my reserves get sapped. I felt overwhelmed by all the stressors in my life and miserable. I finally began asking myself some of the most valuable questions anyone can ask–Why do I care about these things? How do I feel about all this? What do I want? What is important to me? I realized that so much of my energy was going into pleasing others and doing what I thought I was expected to do that it was leaving me with nothing for myself. So, I changed it. I first sat and began meditating or attempting to, and forcing myself to take certain amounts of time during the day to spend only with myself in quiet contemplation. This forced introspection allowed me to separate myself from the noise of the outside world and reconnect with my inner voice. I then began to say no to anything that didn’t resonate with my inner life. This led me to make massive changes in my life and cut ties with everyone and thing that was not serving me. Over the past several years I have felt my world becoming more honest, grounded, and far more fulfilling. My days are spent doing only the things I want to do, with those I value. Forcing myself to take that time for self-reflection and isolation daily has been one of the greatest decisions I have ever made.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have been Acting in TV, Film, and Theater for many years. Currently, I am on the hit TV show “Walker”, on The CW, and am Staring in Several Movies releasing in the next several months. What I am most excited about, however, is the newly formed Production Company myself and my partners created called “Foxhole Labs.” What set’s us apart is were are one of the very first Production companies to utilize Crypto Currency and NFT Technologies to completely put the creative control back in the hands of the Artists and Community. This platform allows artists to connect with their communities, receive funding, and self-produce and distribute their content with full creative control.

Our flagship production-“REPO’d” Tells the story of When two equally dangerous and completely opposite ex-military men are pitted against each other, they soon realize it was an elaborate recruitment scheme into a top-secret mercenary group. REPO’d will be premiering later this year followed by a slate of Movies in 2024.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Discipline, versatility, and grit. You are what you repeatedly do. What you spend your off time working on and doing directly controls your effectiveness in life. Most people think they will “get serious” when they are given an opportunity or it is game time. This could not be more wrong. You do not rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your discipline, work, and training. A lack of discipline kills so many people’s chances of success. They don’t want to force themselves to do the hard, uncomfortable work day after day but that is one of the most critical steps. Look at any professional athlete, they weren’t born that way, they built it through daily determination and discipline….especially when it sucked. That’s what allows them to be a champion.

Versatility is one of the most overlooked assets one can develop. While complete mastery of a specific discipline is awesome, having an array of competencies and then the ability to adapt and apply varying skill sets to a changing environment is more critical. In the real world things never go as planned and your ability to assess, evolve, and adapt to the changing situation is far more critical than your complete mastery of one discipline.

Grit is your ability to get back up after you get knocked down. To push through a loss. To keep going when times are the worst. Anything worth achieving is never easy and your ability to make the long march and keep going when times are hard is the critical ingredient in long-term success. Anyone can keep going when things are easy and they are winning. Only champions go forward when things are a nightmare, As Rocky said so perfectly–“It’s not how hard you can hit, its how hard you can get hit. Its how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My mother made me stand on my own. Very early in life, she instilled in me self-reliance. She taught me to take risks, look inward, and rely upon and trust myself. To take full responsibility and ownership of everything in my world. This ideology set me up for success in everything I have done in life. She showed me that my life is what I make it. I can have and do anything I want as long as I am willing to do the work and take risks.
