We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wen Lin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wen below.
Wen, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I developed my confidence through years of emceeing and producing events. Every time I step on stage as a host, I’m not just speaking—I’m building bridges between cultures and connecting people through shared stories and experiences.
In every hosting opportunity I love, each time I step onto the stage, I’m connecting the community. In every video I plan, each frame carries a message of meaning and value. In every cross-cultural exchange I engage in, I strive to let more people hear my voice and see my commitment. In every project I lead and curate, I aim to create content and platforms that inspire and influence others.
These moments gave me purpose, and through that purpose, I gained confidence. Producing and hosting events allowed me to create meaningful spaces where art, culture, and people come together. Building such communities, where voices are heard and stories are shared, helped me grow—not just as a professional, but as a person with a voice worth sharing.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a master of ceremonies and host who coordinates with various organizations and foundations to host live events and shows, including United Nations Charity Concert, Hollywood TCL Theater Imprint Ceremony, Universe Multicultural Film Festival, award ceremony, gala, showcase, conferences and movie premieres. I was a host at a TV station. I received the degree of Master of International Affairs, Technology, Media and Communications specialization at the Columbia University. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. I also participated in an exchange program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong to study media.
I am also the founder of Star Champs Media. Star Champs Media offers three core services:
1. Planning and organizing performing arts events. These events create memorable experiences that promote appreciation for cultural heritage, encouraging ongoing attendance and sustained interest in the arts.
2. Producing Interactive Digital Content: We create engaging videos, interviews, and vlogs that take viewers behind the scenes of the creative process. We invite online followers to join in and explore the diversity of performing arts.
3. Facilitating Community Dialogues: We host seminars and discussions where artists and guest speakers can share their experiences. This creates a diverse performing arts community and encourages connections and collaborations.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Passion From the very beginning, I’ve been deeply passionate about emceeing and storytelling. That passion gave me the energy to keep learning, growing, and showing up—even when things were challenging. My advice: Follow what excites you. Explore different formats and see which moments truly light you up. Passion will carry you through the long hours and hard days.
Goal-Setting and Planning
Having clear goals and structured plans helped me grow faster and more intentionally. Whether it’s preparing to host a gala or coordinating a showcase, I always break things down into manageable steps: from scriptwriting, to rehearsals, to post-event reflection. For those starting out—set small, achievable goals that build toward a bigger vision. Progress doesn’t happen all at once; it’s the result of steady, thoughtful planning.
Persistence
There were moments of doubt, and plenty of external noise and opinions—but persistence was key. I kept going, kept creating, and kept showing up. For anyone early in their journey: stay focused on your path. Don’t be discouraged by comparisons or setbacks. Stay committed, and trust that consistent effort will take you far—even when results aren’t immediate. Celebrate small wins, reflect on progress, and remind yourself why you started.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes. As the founder and bilingual emcee of Star Champs Media, I’m actively seeking new opportunities to collaborate with individuals and organizations on meaningful events and creative projects.
I specialize in emceeing and hosting bilingual events, and I’m excited to work with:
-Event organizers who need a professional, engaging host for galas, cultural showcases, business forums, community celebrations, and award ceremonies.
-Educational institutions and student groups hosting graduation ceremonies, campus events, and speaker series.
-Cultural and arts organizations creating cross-cultural programs, performances, and festivals.
-Nonprofits, startups, and creative entrepreneurs looking for vibrant stage presence and audience engagement.
In addition to hosting, Star Champs Media offers professional photography and videography services—including on-site shooting, video editing, and short-form content creation.
