Meet Malak Osli

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Malak Osli. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Malak below.

Malak , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I’ve learned to thrive as the only one in the room by showing up as my authentic self every single day. I remind myself that no one else is going to show up for me the way I can. I’ve stopped worrying about things I can’t control, instead, I focus on what I can: my energy, my mindset, my work ethic, and how I choose to react.

If I walk into a room and I’m the only one who looks like me? Cool. I see it as an opportunity, not a setback. I’ve got star power, and I don’t hide it anymore. I used to downplay myself to make other people comfortable, but not anymore. Now, I embrace it. I want the attention. I want people to remember me, because guys like me, real, driven, creative, and resilient, are rare.

Being different in the room doesn’t make me feel small. It makes me feel seen. And I make sure they see me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m an artist and storyteller who creates R&B music with raw emotion, honesty, and intention. I make the kind of music I want to hear, because I didn’t see it being made. My sound blends real-life experiences, smooth melodies, and lyrical depth. I’m not chasing trends,I’m creating a lane of my own.

What makes my work special is the balance I bring. I can give you something soulful and vulnerable one day, and then confident, bold energy the next. My brand is about duality, light and dark, cool but grounded. I also create anime music videos and cinematic-style TikToks to bring my sound to life visually.

Right now, I’m focused on consistently releasing music, building community with my supporters (the Osliderz), and expanding my creative vision. I just dropped a single called “imy2,” and my next release “Remember Me” is already building hype. Every move I make is intentional. I’m just getting started, but I’m making sure they feel me every step of the way. But on a side note: I am actively pursuing more acting gigs as well as modeling brand deals so if you know anyone send them to ya boy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Self-discipline kept me going when motivation wasn’t there. I had to learn how to show up for myself every day, even when no one was watching or supporting me. Emotional awareness helped me grow as an artist and a person. Being able to process what I feel and turn it into something creative has been powerful. And adaptability allowed me to keep moving forward, even when plans changed or things didn’t go how I expected.

My advice for anyone starting out is this: stay consistent, stay open, and stay grounded. You don’t have to be perfect you just have to keep going. Don’t wait for the right time. Learn on the way up, and let your realness be your power.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The biggest challenge I’m facing right now is staying consistent with my weight loss journey and truly getting to know and love myself again. Six months ago, I was 360 pounds. Now, I’m sitting at 305, and I’ve barely been in the gym. I really just changed my diet and my mindset.

For a long time, my dad would tear me down while pretending to be supportive for the sake of his image. That kind of emotional damage stayed with me, but now I’m focused on healing. I’m learning how to show up for myself every day and build real self-worth.

The biggest thing I’ve learned is that your mindset is everything. People will try to knock you off your path, but you have to stay positive and not let them break your character. I had a roommate who was always dodging, ranting, and lying, and that used to affect my mood. Now I just pray for him and give him grace. He’d try to spite me sometimes, but I didn’t match his energy. When people see your elevating and unbothered that hurts their ego, and that’s when they start projecting their insecurities on you , but you can’t take it personal they just wish they had the determination and ambition to walk in this life by their own terms like you do.I’m focused on staying grounded and not feeding into the negativity.

This journey is about more than weight. It’s about peace, growth, and becoming the best version of myself.
