Meet DeAnna Curtis-Bowens

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful DeAnna Curtis-Bowens. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with DeAnna below.

DeAnna, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Following Jesus has given me true confidence and self-worth. As I read the Bible daily, I’ve learned who I am in Christ — a loved and valued child of God. His love, power, and guidance are what empower me to walk confidently and stand strong.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am an inspirational speaker, author, coach, and founder of Ms. Dee Speaks — a platform dedicated to helping women embrace their God-given identity, build unshakable confidence, and move forward boldly, no matter their past. Through my speaking engagements, books, YouTube series, and devotionals, I empower others to see themselves the way God sees them: loved, chosen, and equipped for purpose.

What excites me most about my work is watching lives transform — seeing women realize they no longer have to play small or hide their gifts. I love creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and encouraged to step into their next season with faith and courage.

Currently, I’m expanding my video series on YouTube, including Godfidence and Daughter, You Are Loved, and working on companion devotionals and an eBook to go even deeper. I believe in meeting people right where they are and equipping them with tools and truths that last.

At the core of everything I do is a simple mission: to help people believe they matter, embrace their worth and purpose, and live boldly in the love of Christ.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I would say the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been faith, resilience, and a willingness to keep learning.

Faith has been my anchor. It gave me the courage to step out even when I felt unqualified or afraid. For anyone starting out, I encourage you to stay rooted in something bigger than yourself — for me, that’s my relationship with God. It’s what keeps you steady when challenges come.

Resilience taught me to get back up after setbacks and keep moving forward. You will face obstacles, but remember: failure is not final, and detours don’t define you. Surround yourself with a supportive community and keep speaking life over your dreams.

Finally, a willingness to keep learning has kept me growing. I’ve learned to invest in my personal and spiritual development, seek mentors, and stay open to feedback. Never think you’ve arrived; there is always more to discover about yourself and your purpose.

My advice? Be patient with your growth. Trust the process. Stay humble, stay teachable, and never lose sight of the fact that you were created on purpose and for a purpose.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The book that has played the most important role in my development is, without a doubt, the Bible. It has been more than a book to me — it’s been my guide, my source of truth, and my daily reminder of who I am in Christ.

One of the most impactful nuggets of wisdom is the promise that I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). This truth helped me break free from comparison and self-doubt, and taught me to embrace my unique identity and calling.

Another powerful lesson is the reminder that God’s strength is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). It taught me that I don’t have to have it all together to be used by God; He works through my imperfections and uses them for His glory.

Lastly, the call to trust in the Lord with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) has been foundational. It has helped me surrender my plans, walk by faith, and believe that His ways are higher and better than mine.

The Bible has shaped not just my confidence, but my entire outlook on life, purpose, and leadership. It’s the foundation for everything I teach and share today.
