Meet Erika Boehme

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erika Boehme. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Erika, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome and I were very close for many years.

The evidence I committed to holding onto to make a case for imposter syndrome was:

Being in my early 20s, I’m too young to be taken seriously
I don’t have any highly accredited certifications
I’ve never done what I’m seeking to do, so how can I say “I am this” or “I have this?”
I don’t feel confident, so there must be something I’m missing.

I was making a case for my self-doubt rather than being the #1 fan for my dreams

Given that my spaces attract rebel visionaries, imposter syndrome is the #1 thing my clients experience.

Most people experience imposter syndrome because they are unconsciously trying to be someone or something that they’re not – doing things the way they THINK they should be done

Or, they don’t believe they can still be successful, respected, loved, impactful, etc as WHO THEY ARE ALREADY

Imposter syndrome has us compare & look outside of ourselves for how we should be, the “right” way, how to be BETTER.

Don’t get caught in the trap

Imposter syndrome will try to convince you that:
You’re a fraud
You don’t know enough
You don’t have enough experience
The process is linear & logical
Compared to them you shouldn’t even try
therefor, you shouldn’t act on what is alive in your heart

Hear this…
Imposter syndrome isn’t a stop. It doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t.
It’s an opportunity to pave a NEW way.

YOUR way.

When I said “fuck the status quo” & went ALL IN on embodying my identity and soul path as a rebel visionary, imposter syndrome no longer fit in the paradigm I was playing in

As a rebel visionary, you are in the process of trailblazing a new way. If it feels edgy, and like you’re doing it wrong or don’t measure up, it’s because nobody has ever done it like YOU are meant to.

As a rebel visionary, there’s no box you can fit yourself in, or formula you can follow to give you a false sense of security that you’re doing it right

You have to trust your visionary essence.
You have to acknowledge that you’re not going to make sense compared to conventional ways.
Consider, that you were BORN to do what you feel called to do.
When you are born to do something, it’s already in your DNA.
Your bravery & devotion to the path is what makes you qualified to lead.

Imposter syndrome is simply a distraction from your greatness. A protection mechanism to keep you tamed with what’s comfortable & familiar.

I dare you to play a new game. From here on out, you are a rebel visionary. Own it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hate what’s happening in the world? This is your invitation to step the fuck up.

I create spaces for you to remember who the fuck you are.

Somewhere along the way were were taught that we aren’t powerful, we don’t have agency, and there is a “right” way to live our lives. Trying to fit ourselves in that box is leaving us anxious, depressed, numb, and disconnected, with spirits that are dying. I was able to see through all this at ‘only’ 16 years old. It led me to ask the question, “is there a better way?” and vow to live as the creator of my own life, inspiring others to fuck the box & free themselves.

This life is beautiful AND tragic. My clients pay me to support them to keep their heart open in a world that provides so much evidence for why you should keep it closed. Because, who benefits from you wandering the earth with your heart closed? It’s time to put the power back into the people. I wake up every day with my heart on fire to help others discover the source of their power, so that it can never be taken from them again.

In my spaces are where the rebel visionaries come to gather, to nurture their soul ideas, to build community and movements for change, to come home to their bodies & wholeness.

I’m ecstatic to share about one of my favorite spaces for liberation–Transformational Backpacking Retreats: where participants have the opportunity to silence the outside noise, put away the to-do lists, and come home to their true nature through living immersed in the PNW wilderness for a week surviving off of only what you can carry on your back.

We climb & empower ourselves on top of mountains, burn our fears and shame over a campfire, re-wild our expression, move our bodies with presence, unlock creative channels inspired by the wisdom of nature, and embolden ourselves to step into new expressions of community, passion & purpose in our every day lives.

There is no where else I feel more in my zone of genius and my wholeness than when leading these transformative adventures every summer. Will you dare to play outside the box?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1. It doesn’t matter what you do or how it goes, can you love yourself through the process? That is how you will become unstoppable. Take on a practice of relentless self celebration to build yourself up when life knocks you down.
2. What’s the hill you’d die on? What do you profoundly fucking care about? Find the cause that sets your heart on fire and be a lunatic about it. Let this be your North Star purpose that devotes yourself to something greater than your ego. For me, that’s co-creating Heaven on Earth: a socially just, spiritually fulfilling, and environmentally sustainable world for all. Feel impossible? That’s the point. Do the impossible – not to achieve the end goal – but for the whimsical, valiant, psychedelic, soul-gasmic journey of who you get to become in the process. It doesn’t have to be just one thing; let the path evolve as you evolve, getting more and more audacious as you become more whole. To me, it’s all about doing what makes me feel ALIVE.
3. Get support! Create community. You are not meant to do life alone. Find your champions and allow yourself to lean on them when you need.

Love. Purpose. Community. What more could you need?

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I want to do live with humans who dare to live outside the box. If you are a rebel visionary, I want to be in your corner.

Us world-changers need to stick together. I want to amplify those who seek to regenerate the earth and weave the wisdom of nature back into society.

Do you have a radical message to share with the world? Let’s hear it.
