We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tamiqua Whittaker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tamiqua below.
Tamiqua, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
My confidence and self esteem come fm within (with a side of Beyoncé affirmations lol) laughing but serious…I was very quiet/shy growing up, and didn’t really find my real voice until I was around 30 after giving birth for the 1st time. Becoming a mom is very empowering knowing that your kids are watching and taking their cues from you.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve been (and still licensed in Oklahoma) for 15+yrs as a dental assistant which is what gave me the idea to create my lipcare line.
Noticing the ongoing issue of dry lips but needing a completely all natural solution is what prompted my 1st product, a lip exfoliator. Working in pediatric offices primarily, the product needed to be safe for littles too! My 3yr old daughter (at the time) and my husband were my main testers and would give honest feedback. Eventually, I would scale my brand to include Luxury lipbalms and even a nightime lipmask.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
You have to first BELIEVE in yourself! I created something im obsessed with, but I know also that my products deliver on their advertised promises everytime.
Networking was also very impactful in my brand expanding, find your potential customers and go where they are. Show up as your best self and bring freebies everywhere lol (freebies or swag should be included in your budget!)
Ultimately, show up! It took a sec to get out of my comfort zone, but I believe I was made for this and I want to WIN way more than being afraid.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m currently looking to partner with retailers and boutiques with shelving options (local & other) I dnt have a brick & mortar, so this would be a way to give customers another option to support outside of online ordering. Im interested in beauty supply stores, salons or other grooming quarter, I have a MENS LINE of luxury lipbalms as well that could fit into a barber shop. Reach out to elevate your store aesthetic and customer experience.
