Meet Kyle Muha

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kyle Muha a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kyle, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I think the biggest thing that helped build my confidence and self-esteem was consistently putting myself in uncomfortable situations. Early in your career, that might mean saying yes to gigs you don’t have much experience with. But the more I pushed myself into those unfamiliar spaces, the faster my confidence grew. Now, no matter what the gig is, I go into it fully believing I’m going to crush it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Kyle Muha, and I’ve been pursuing photography for the past eight years. While I shoot a wide range of styles, my biggest passions lie in concert photography, landscapes, film, and capturing candid moments with friends. I believe the diversity of subjects I photograph—both personally and professionally—reflects not only my deep love for the craft but also my drive to excel in every aspect of this art form.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three of the most impactful skills in my journey have been a willingness to learn, the ability to network, and effective marketing. First, staying eager to learn has been essential—there’s always something new to pick up, and someone out there who can teach you. You can’t ever assume you know it all.

Second, networking has been crucial for growing my business. I’ve leaned on my circle of friends and family, and in turn, they’ve introduced me to their own networks. Treat people well, and that respect and support will often be returned.

Lastly, marketing has played a major role—especially in recent years. I’ve made a conscious effort to stay active on social media, and that consistency has sparked a lot of organic conversations and connections that continue to open doors.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced over the past few months has been finding time to focus on my personal photography as my business continues to grow. It’s a good problem to have—it means I’m doing things right and prioritizing my clients’ experience, which is always my top goal. That said, I know I need to do a better job of balancing client work with creative projects that feed my own passion.
