We recently connected with Kelly Staubs and have shared our conversation below.
Kelly , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
For eight years, I lost myself in an abusive marriage. I forgot my worth, dimmed my light, and lived in survival mode. But God had a different story for me.
It didn’t happen overnight, but piece by piece, I started rebuilding.
I leaned into my faith—because when everything else felt broken, His love reminded me I was never truly alone.
I leaned on my family and friends—the ones who stood in the gap when I couldn’t stand on my own.
I found the gym—not to change my body, but to heal my soul. It became my sanctuary, my release, and a reminder of my strength.
I discovered the beauty of travel—a way to explore the world and rediscover the pieces of me I had tucked away.
And I started over with a new career in real estate—a fresh beginning that gave me purpose. I found healing in helping others find home, peace, and a fresh start of their own.
Confidence didn’t come easy. Self-esteem wasn’t just handed back. I fought for it. I chose to believe I was worth more. I worked to become the woman I am today: grounded in faith, surrounded by love, fueled by purpose, and walking boldly in my calling.
If you’re in the middle of the storm, I promise—there’s light on the other side. And it is so, so beautiful.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a proud mom of two amazing girls—one of whom is a senior this year, which has me learning (and emotionally preparing) for this new chapter of parenting. I’ve been the head coach of my youngest daughter’s cheer team for the past four years, and it’s been such a joy watching these girls grow in confidence and spirit.
I grew up on the East Coast but moved to Texas 11 years ago, and it truly feels like home now. I’m married to my best friend—an incredible, supportive husband who rides motorcycles, and I’ve actually learned to love riding with him. It’s one of our favorite ways to escape and explore.
When I’m not working, you’ll either find me at Disney (my happy place), relaxing at the beach, or planning my next adventure. I’ve got my eye on some colder destinations—I’m ready to mix it up and experience some snow!
We also have two dogs who keep life lively, and before I got into real estate, I worked at a veterinary clinic for 10 years. Animals have always been a big part of my life.
My journey has been filled with change, growth, and purpose—and I’m grateful for every piece of it.
I have plans to get my license in the state of Florida and expand my real estate career in dual states.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, self-awareness, and connection.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice would be:
1.Do the inner work—whether that’s through faith, journaling, counseling, or simply giving yourself grace. You’ve got to know who you are before you can fully show up for others.
2.Take one brave step at a time—you don’t have to have it all figured out. Just move forward. Momentum builds clarity.
3.Find your people—whether it’s family, friends, or mentors. Surround yourself with those who uplift you and speak truth into your life.
Your journey doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be yours.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I’ve been incredibly blessed with a strong support system, and I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
First and foremost, my husband has been my rock—encouraging me, believing in me, and loving me through every season. My children have also played a huge role. They’ve given me purpose, strength, and the motivation to keep growing and showing up as the best version of myself.
My parents have always supported me, and I’m also beyond grateful for my three closest friends—Kendra, Blair, and Sara—who are truly like family. They’ve walked with me through some of the hardest moments and reminded me of who I am when I forgot.
Professionally, my Home Sweet Home Group family has been a game-changer. More specifically, Sara, Rachel, and our amazing broker Katie Cooper have poured into me, mentored me, and helped shape me into the agent I am today. Being surrounded by such strong, driven, and supportive women has been a gift—and a daily reminder that we rise by lifting each other.
